Katie Price broke her silence on Friday after her former dressage coach Andrew Gould was called up to the Paris Olympics.

Andrew, who was at the centre of the model’s divorce from singer Peter Andre in 2009 after photos emerged of them on a booze-fuelled night out, was called out after Charlotte Dujardin was suspended for whipping a horse.

Katie, 46, weighed in on the news during an appearance on Jeremy Vine and praised Andrew who “deserved it”, said it was “brilliant” he had made the team and admitted the images of Charlotte were “shocking”.

Speaking to Jeremy, she began: ‘I would like to clarify that I never had an affair with him, obviously we said that at the time. You spend a lot of time with your coach, but there was no affair.

“I think it’s fantastic that he made the Olympic team, great! Especially because he taught me how to do dressage.”

Regarding Charlotte, the model explained: ‘The whip is used as a crack, not to hit the horse. I was shocked when I saw that. It’s an animal. You should make the noise, but without contact.

“If this is how he trains his horses, it’s no good.”

“She’s good, but it makes you wonder if she does this with every horse and if that’s the case then she should be stripped of everything. She should be an example of how things are done correctly when training horses.

“I found out about Andrew yesterday. I haven’t seen him in years! My best friend does his wife’s hair, but I don’t. I moved house and I don’t have a horse with him anymore. If I see him, or if he sees this… I wish him luck because he deserves it!”

Charlotte was sensationally banned from the sport just days before her competition date after footage emerged of her kicking the animal 25 times on its legs.

The six-time Olympic medallist had hoped to become Britain’s most decorated Olympian (after tying with cyclist Laura Kenny) but was forced to withdraw from the games on Tuesday.

Team GB reservist Becky Moody has taken Dujardin’s place but her departure has also freed up a space for Andrew, who will travel to Paris should another rider withdraw from the three-man line-up.

Although they both denied cheating, Katie later revealed that Peter ended their marriage because he believed otherwise.

Gould said after receiving his call-up to Team GB: ‘It’s not a post I expected to write under these circumstances but as you will have heard I have been called up to be the fourth member of Team GB.

‘It is an absolute privilege and honour to be given the trust and responsibility of being a member of the team.

‘I will do everything I can to support the team and, at the same time, gain as much experience as possible during this time.

“Indigro is feeling better than ever and is ready to take on whatever comes his way. Now it’s time to come together and support Team GB.”

In 2012, Katie revealed how much her friendship with Gould (who was married to Polly, a PR executive) infuriated her then-husband.

Describing the fateful night in Bristol that led to Peter breaking up with her, Katie said: ‘I said Pete would go mad if he knew I’d gone out with Andrew because I had a problem with him, but everyone was like ‘Don’t be silly, you’re a grown woman, he’s here with Polly’.

‘Pete didn’t ask who was there, so I didn’t mention Andrew.’

He then described the moment he appeared in the papers with a friend, who turned out to be gay, and his fears about how Peter would react when he found out Andrew was there too.

‘I was pictured on the cover with a ‘mystery man’, but the guy was gay and Pete had already met him. But I immediately felt bad.

“I wanted to get out of the house and avoid a confrontation with Pete because I knew he would get angry. On the way to Andrew’s stables, I was hyperventilating,” she said.

Shortly after, Peter called her and told her it was all over.

At the time, Andrew and Polly released a statement about the strength of their relationship and Polly told how Katie had ruined her life.

Polly said: “I’m not happy about this at all. I’m not happy that I got involved in his life. I’m not happy that it came to this. Jordan became a client of my husband and mine as well, as we both run a horse business.

‘He teaches him and I take care of his horses and that was it.

“But I’m sure other stories will come out and it makes me angry that the attention has shifted to us in this way.”

In her 2010 book, You Only Live Once, Katie recounted how Peter was jealous of her friendship with Gould.

‘Pete met Andrew and everything changed. I had met Polly and Andrew briefly when they both came to the house once before we went to a horse show, and even in that brief encounter, which was filmed for our reality show, I got a bad vibe from Pete, but I thought maybe I was imagining it.

‘I admit that we were both jealous in our marriage… Jealousy is a poison, a cancer, and once it starts to grow out of control, it can destroy everything.’

Katie was married to Peter Andre, 50, from 2005 to 2009 and they have son Junior, 18, and daughter Princess, 16.

Today, Dujardin’s fiancé Dean Wyatt-Golding broke his silence on the scandal, saying: Everything had ‘come out of nowhere’.

Speaking outside the couple’s home, Mr Wyatt-Golding said: “I can’t say anything beyond Charlotte’s statement.

All we can do is wait and see what happens.

Responding to questions about how the video could have been shared, Mr Golding added: “No, we have no idea.

“For now, Charlotte is obviously cooperating with the equestrian authorities.”
