Katie Holmes was spotted in a colorful ensemble in New York City on Tuesday, following her daughter Suri Cruise’s big move to college.
The 45-year-old Dawson’s Creek star wore an oversized sweatshirt with a colorful graffiti-like design all over it.
She paired the statement top with a pair of wide, skinny jeans that looked like they were straight out of the 80s and black ballet flats.
She was wearing sunglasses and her hair down and was carrying her phone and a brown leather purse.
The sighting comes as the mother of one settles into her empty nest after 18-year-old Suri moved to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh for college.

Next month, the First Daughter star will be heading to Pittsburgh for Parents’ Weekend at Suri’s college.
September 27 and 28 is family weekend, and Katie is reportedly only allowed to visit her only son at that time.
“Katie is looking forward to visiting her daughter at school, she’s happy for her and wants to be a part of it,” a source told DailyMail.com.
‘Katie attended Columbia University for a while and loved the experience, so she’s excited for her daughter to go to college.’
Before the family weekend, Suri will have a three-day weekend over Labor Day.
Tom Cruise’s 62-year-old daughter moved into the residence a week ago with Holmes’ help. Classes begin Aug. 26, according to the school’s website.
Tom, from whom Suri is estranged, will not be there, even though – as DailyMail.com reported last week – he is paying for her tuition as their 2012 divorce settlement stipulated that he should cover all of Suri’s education.
When Suri turned 18 earlier this year, she legally dropped the Top Gun star’s last name and took her mother’s middle name, Noelle, as her new surname.

The divorce papers revealed that Tom pays for Suri’s expenses, including “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular expenses.”
“Tom pays Suri’s tuition, he has always paid for her education and he will never stop because he is an honest guy,” a friend of Tom’s told DailyMail.com. Annual tuition at CMU is $65,000.
“He has never hesitated to pay child support and expenses for his daughter. He does not break his word. He is fulfilling his obligation.”
But he’ll likely no longer be paying Katie $38,000 a year in child support since Suri is now 18 and no longer a child.
