Katie Holmes sported a bruise on her face and eye as she stepped out in New York on Monday.
The 45-year-old Dawson’s Creek star stepped out makeup-free with a dark bruise under her left eye and apparent swelling on the right side of her face.
The cause of the injury is not known. DailyMail.com has contacted his representatives for comment.
The star wore a blue T-shirt and cap and had wet hair as she stepped out on the town.
The star’s daughter, Suri Cruise, 18, is preparing to head off to college at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this fall.

As her teenage daughter embarks on the next chapter of her life and lives away from home for the first time in just a few months, the actress will join the cast of Poker Face.
The Toledo native, best known for playing Joey Potter on Dawson’s Creek, will be among the guest cast on the second season of the murder mystery series, alongside Natasha Lyonne.
Other guest stars include Giancarlo Esposito, Gaby Hoffmann and Kumail Nanjiani.
Previously, Poker Face hosted actors such as Chloë Sevigny and Judith Light as guest stars.
Holmes announced her casting on Instagram Wednesday morning.
“Thank you (Natasha Lyonne) for inviting me!” she captioned a screenshot of a Variety article confirming the exciting news.
He also described the concert as “exciting.”

Suri, who was born on April 18, 2006 in Los Angeles, is the daughter of divorced parents. Her father is Tom Cruise, who was married to Holmes from 2006 to 2012.
In 2014, Holmes revealed that her “main goal” as a mother is to “let Suri know” how much she loves her.
“Just to let her know that I love her so much. When that’s the dividing line, who cares if my first two pancakes always get burned?” she told People. “Between tickle fights and glitter art, I try to include some good manners along the way. I try to have good manners, too, so that’s what she sees.”
The artist continued: “I also try to be very creative with her, because I know she is an artist and that speaks to the little girl in me.”
During an appearance on the Today show in August 2014, Holmes shared: “The most important thing for me is to let her know how proud I am and that her accomplishments mean the world. Everything I do is important. It’s really just about her and that’s what I think is most important.”
Despite having little to no relationship with her father, Suri is, according to sources, a happy and well-adjusted teenager who has loved growing up in New York City.
In recent years, Holmes has focused on making films and gaining more stage experience.
