Katie Holmes gave an extensive interview with cheerfulness on Wednesday where she opened up about sexual abuse, her love for her daughter, Suri, and how she doesn’t view herself as sexy.
The Dawson’s Creek actress, 44, was promoting her new movie Rare Objects — which she directed — with the post when she spoke about the family and her rise to fame.
In the film, there is an early scene where the young female lead, Benita, played by Julia Mayorga, is assaulted.
Of filming the delicate moment, she said: ‘What was more important to me was what I did to (Benita) in the aftermath. For me, unfortunately,[sexual assault]is an understandable secret between women, so we don’t have to share much to know what we’re talking about.
Julia was absolutely stunning in that scene, and it was really hard to shoot because I only needed her face.

I kept saying to both actors, “It’s your faces.” And so they really had to go there. Everyone shook after that.
Rare Objects is based on Kathleen Tessaro’s novel of the same name, which was released in 2016.
Although the book takes place just after the Great Depression, Holmes’ movie is set in modern New York City.
The film is about a young woman trying to rebuild her life by working in an antique shop before various characters from her past begin to resurface.
Katie looked gorgeous for the cover of Glamor wearing a sheer black and white blouse with gold detailing and a nose ring.
Other appearances saw her in a gold cut-out dress with a statement belt before changing into a white quirky shirt and gray leggings.
Elsewhere during the interview, she gave a rare insight into family life with 16-year-old daughter Suri – whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
She said it was very important to “protect” her since her only child is “very visible at such a young age”.
Katie added that she was “grateful” to be her mother because she is “a wonderful person”.
Katie’s new movie Rare Objects will be released in theaters and on demand this Friday.

In addition to directing the film, the actress co-wrote its script, acted as a producer and appeared in a supporting role.

The performer went on to express her desire to explain their relationship in a positive light.
We see both of them struggle with different things in their lives, but also find joy in life for each other, and we see them support each other. I think it’s really nice to see on screen and to see women supporting each other.
Mayorga also stated that she quickly linked up with the film’s director while working on the set.
“I was so excited to work with Katie… There are so many talented people in this movie,” she said.
