In the midst of a Spartan setting, the characters break the fourth wall, travel back in time and even return from beyond.

And after weeks of stepping into the shoes of a Grover’s Corners citizen, the production is gearing up for its final season of shows.

The final show is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

The revival features a more diverse cast and includes Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston, Richard Thomas and Michelle Wilson.

Holmes plays Mrs. Webb, mother of Deutsch’s protagonist, Emily.

In an interview with Playbill, Holmes talked about working on the show and the new approach to world history.

“He didn’t want this to be a play about nostalgia,” the Dawson’s Creek alum said, referring to director Kenny Leon. “I wanted this to be a play about the life of the people against the stars, against humanity.”

The Alone Together star revealed that before every show, he makes a mandatory stop at a specific Starbucks location on Eighth Avenue in New York City.

“They’re so lovely,” the actress said of the baristas there. “Every time I come in, they know me and I know them, and they wish me a great show.”

The actress also revealed that upon arriving at the theater, she repeats her lines at least two more times after having read them “about three times at home.”

She added: “One time I didn’t, and I was in the middle of a scene and I just said the whole line except the last word. I couldn’t remember it and made something up, but it didn’t make sense.
