In addition to Holmes, the film directed by Dito Montiel will also star Al Pacino and Tony Kebbell, reports Deadline.
Captivated will center on a Calabrian mafia boss who kidnaps Jean Paul Getty’s grandson, John Paul Getty III, and unexpectedly falls in love with his victim’s mother during ransom negotiations.
Michael Mammoliti, nephew of kidnapper Saro Mammoliti, will be one of the producers of the project.
The entertainment industry figure took issue with the 2017 film All the Money in the World, which also covered the kidnapping of Getty’s grandson.
Mammoliti spoke to Deadline and stated that the film’s producers’ goal was to “give a voice to a person who hasn’t had one for over 50 years and tell a side of this story that no one knows.”
Benaroya Pictures CEO and IFT founder Michael Benaroy also issued a statement to express that his collaborators’“We couldn’t be more excited to have him on our roster.”
Production on the upcoming film is scheduled to begin in Italy this winter.
