Rep. Katie Hill said goodbye to Congress on Thursday with a speech that served as an apology and an attack on the & # 39; double standard & # 39; of which she said she had fueled her downfall.
& # 39; I will never shirk my responsibility for this sudden end of my time here, but I have to say more because it is bigger than me, & she said on the floor of the house.
& # 39; I am now leaving because of a double standard. I am leaving because I no longer want to be used as a negotiating chip, "Hill said.
& I am leaving because I did not want to sell by newspapers and blogs and websites used by shameless agents for the dirtiest gutter politics I have ever seen, she continued. & # 39; And the right-wing media to generate clicks and expand their audience by distributing intimate photos of me taken without my knowledge, let alone my consent to the sexual entertainment of millions. & # 39;
Hill said the double standard prevented her, a woman, from staying in Congress, and yet President Trump, a man bragging about his sexual predation, remains.
& # 39; Today, as my last act, I voted to proceed with the Donald Trump charge on behalf of the women of the United States of America, & # 39; said Hill.
Rep. Katie Hill gave her farewell speech on the floor of the House on Thursday, in which she presented the & # 39; double standard & # 39; mentions what women are confronted with and suggests that it is unfair to leave Congress, while President Trump, accused of sexual violence, remains in the White House

On Thursday, Hill positioned himself behind the House room during a series of deposition-related voices, and expressed a & # 39; yes & # 39; on opening the investigation in her final hours in Congress.
A number of Democratic lawmakers approached 32-year-old Hill, who resigned due to inappropriate relationships, and gave her hugs.
Hill received a special speaking slot where she could take as much time as an hour.
However, she had to wait for the Republicans to go first – meaning she was in the room while Rep. Louie Gohmert continued to drink.
About halfway through his speech, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez entered the room and sat down beside Hill.
AOC stayed for about 15 minutes while Gohmert kept going and hugged Hill as she got up to leave. Other first-year lawmakers – representatives Lori Trahan and Joe Neguse – also entered the room to keep Hill company while she waited for her turn.

Later, & # 39; team & # 39; members Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley came in to see Hill speak and delivered her hugs after packing.
DailyMail.com obtained photos from Hill, naked, smoking a hookah. Photos also showed that she kissed Morgan Desjardins, a 24-year-old campaign assistant who was involved in a & # 39; throuple & # 39; relationship with Hill and her now estranged husband Kenny Heslep.
Hill was also accused of having an affair with her legislative director Graham Kelly, who would violate the ethical rules of the house.
Hill denied this relationship.
The House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into the allegations that led Hill to announce that she would resign on Sunday.

RedState first reported on Hill & # 39; s two alleged relationships with staff, in a report in which the Californian democrat brushed naked Desjardins hair.
On Monday, Hill released a video showing her & # 39; abusing husband & # 39; blamed for releasing the images and & # 39; right-hand media & # 39; for spreading it.
& # 39; This coordinated campaign carried out by right-wing media and republican opponents, which make it possible and perpetuate my husband's abuse by offering him a platform, is disgusting and unforgivable, & # 39; she said.
& # 39; I will not allow my experience to scare other young women or girls away from running to the office. For the sake of all of us, we cannot allow that to happen, & Hill continued.
& # 39; I am injured. I am mad. The path that I saw so clearly for myself is no longer there, & # 39; added the congressman. & # 39; I never claimed to be perfect, but I never thought my imperfections would be armed and used to try to destroy me and the community I loved all my life. I regret it so much.
