British number one Katie Boulter’s December dream got even better as she kicked off her 2025 season by leading Great Britain to victory over Argentina in the United Cup.
The 28-year-old announced on social media last week that she had become engaged to her long-term boyfriend and world number 9, Alex de Minaur.
The tennis power couple, who have been dating since 2022, could even face off on court this week when Great Britain plays de Minaur’s Australia on New Year’s Day.
Last week, Boulter and De Minaur thrilled their fans with an Instagram photo in which the Brit had her left arm around her 25-year-old boyfriend’s neck, revealing that she was wearing a stunning engagement ring on her ring finger.
They captioned the post: “We’ve been keeping a little secret…”
Having initially met on the professional tennis circuit, the pair ran into each other over coffee at 6am.

Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur surprised fans last week by announcing their engagement.
Both enjoyed excellent seasons in 2024 on the WTA and ATP Tours, with Boulter winning in Nottingham and San Diego, while De Minaur recently won the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.
It was here that their relationship blossomed and Boulter admitted that it was then that she knew he was the one.
“We met at six in the morning and ended up having coffee. From that moment on, I knew I was in this for the long haul,” Boulter had previously told The Age.

De Minaur finished his year with a big victory at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, bouncing back from his disappointing ATP Finals in Turin, where he failed to win a match.
And Boulter certainly looked like she was still on top on Monday when she dispatched Nadia Podorosk in straight sets in Sydney, then paired with Charles Broom in doubles to secure a draw after Billy Harris lost his singles match to Tomas Etcheverry .
She told the United Cup website: “I’m very, very happy with today.” Last year I played really well in singles and didn’t get any mixed doubles matches, so I was really looking forward to this one.

Alex de Minaur, pictured with teammate Olivia Gadecki, could face his new fiancée on the pitch on New Year’s Day when Great Britain plays Australia in the United Cup in Sydney.
The tennis power couple has been dating since 2022 after meeting during a coffee run.
‘I feel like we both play very well together considering it’s our first time. But I’m delighted to get the win.”
Harris, who joined the men’s side in the absence of the injured Jack Draper, looked set to continue the winning theme as he took the first set against Etcheverry 6-3.
But a 66 ranking difference became apparent and Etcheverry won the next two sets 6-3 6-2 to level the tie, leaving Boulter and Broom to secure victory with a 7-6 (4) 7-5 victory over Etcheverry and María Lourdes. Carl.
Boulter and De Minaur will play next month at the Australian Open.
