Riz Possnett, the protester who clung to the floor of the Oxford Union’s debating chamber, said trans rights “should not be up for discussion”.
In a thread on Twitter, Possnett said those who had come to listen to Prof Stock, who was accused of transphobia by Oxford University’s LGBTQ+ community in the run-up to the event, should consider the “dangerous ramifications” of her views .
Possnett said: “Trans lives and rights shouldn’t be up for debate, but the Union hasn’t even provided for that. My goal was to show the other side, to make sure that everyone who listened to Stock’s speech also considered the dangerous consequences of those views for trans people, especially trans youth.
“Kathleen Stock isn’t welcome here. Terfs are not welcome here. We will stand against hate and we will fight for trans rights. Transgender people, including trans youth, deserve to live in peace, safe from bigotry and harassment, with access to life-saving gender-affirming health care.
