Katherine Schwarzenegger threw shade at the Met Gala by uploading a photo of her mother, Maria Shriver, attending the annual event 23 years earlier on her Instagram Stories.
The author, 34, who recently sparked outrage when she and her husband Chris Pratt demolished a historic 1950s Los Angeles home, reposted an image uploaded by Shriver when she attended the Met Gala in 2001.
Above the image, Katherine, who is also Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter, added the caption: “When the Met Gala was elegant and classy.”
In Maria’s post, she had written: ‘It’s the first Monday in May and the Met Gala is on! Things were a little more low-key when I attended in 2001, but I thought I’d share some photos from that wonderful night.’
“Not only did I get to wear this beautiful dress, but I also attended with my parents and my cousin Caroline.”

To conclude, the former First Lady of California asked her followers: ‘What do you think: would we wear these same looks on the red carpet tonight?’
The images also showed Shriver wearing a sleeveless lilac dress that clung to her body and also covered a sheer shawl over her shoulders.
Her hair had been styled in a classic updo, easily revealing a pair of sparkling, dangling earrings that offered a statement touch to the look.
The 2024 Met Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate its new exhibition called Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, while the dress code for guests was The Garden of Time.
Several celebrities were in attendance on Monday earlier this week, including Zendaya, who wowed in three stunning ensembles, as well as Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, Cardi B and Kendall Jenner.
Some stars strutted down the red carpet in daring outfits, including Rita Ora, Doja Cat and also Emily Ratajkowski. Ora put on a nude bodysuit with strips of colorful fabric that fell in the middle and behind her back.

However, others were noticeably absent from the festivities, like Selena Gomez, who was “busy working,” a source recently confirmed to People on Tuesday.
The actress was not the only A-list celebrity who opted not to participate in the gala, as other stars such as Khloe Kardashian, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Rihanna and Taylor Swift were not seen on the red carpet.

Rihanna also had to miss the event because she was “sick with the flu,” a source revealed to People.

The house is across the street from Katherine’s mother, Maria Shriver, and will have a three-car garage and a secondary unit near the pool.
The Los Angeles Conservancy, which works to protect and save historic buildings, issued a warning in January about demolishing the 1950s property.
Social media users are upset with Pratt and his wife for tearing down the historic property in favor of a mansion.
“Couldn’t they build their SHEIN McMansion somewhere else?” one person asked, while another said, “Further proof that money can’t buy good taste.”
