Katherine has a connection with the royal family, having been selected to record the first version of the new national anthem, God Save The King.

The Welsh opera singer told Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shepherd that she was actually recording something for the Queen after receiving news that Her Majesty had passed away at the age of 96 when she got the call.

‘First we stopped what we were doing. We had a moment of silence,” she said.

From a small church in a rural part of Sussex, Katherine received a call from BBC Radio 4 requesting that the World at One program close with God Save The King.

Katherine, one of the Queen’s favorite singers and who has performed for the royal family several times, said she had to “really think” about the lyrics, which have been changed to reflect the new monarch, King Charles III.

She said, “I really had to think about the future. To reflect on all the amazing things that happened in the past to Her Majesty and her incredible reign.

“But now think ahead. I think King Charles will be a great king and so I wanted to do justice to the words.’
