Patriotic Katherine Jenkins donned a red Welsh rugby kit as she posed in new promotional images for her gin brand Cygnet on Thursday.

The classical singer, 43, looked ready for action in the animated footage as she took on the sporting activities – while a throwback picture from 2003 showed her back in the national kit.

Her career started in 2003 when she proudly sang the national anthem ‘Mae hen wlad fy nhadau’ on the pitch at a Welsh rugby match.

Cygnet Gin is releasing its first ‘Ready To Drink Gin and Tonic’ on Saturday, in time for Super Saturday rugby in the middle of the Six Nations.

The new product will be launched at the Principality Stadium this weekend in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union during the Guinness Six Nations match between Wales and Italy.

Katherine, who was born in Neath, founded the brand in 2022 with her husband Andrew Levitas, 46.

Katherine said: ‘I’m so excited to be launching our Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic this weekend to the home crowd at the Principality Stadium in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union.

‘My career started here in 2003 when I proudly sang ‘Mae hen wlad fy nhadau’ on the pitch and it means the world to me to have the same level of support from the WRU today as it did 20 years ago.

‘The home of Welsh rugby will always hold a special place in my heart, which is why it feels like a full-circle moment to announce that my Cygnet Gin collection is now permanently available in the stadium, across the bars this super saturday and beyond.’

Abi Tierney, WRU CEO added: ‘We are delighted that Katherine has chosen to launch her new product line with us in recognition of the moment she first walked onto the pitch to sing our anthem 20 years ago at the start of his stellar career.

‘Over the following years, Katherine’s presence has become synonymous with Welsh rugby and it is a real honor to welcome her back to the Principality Stadium to celebrate her latest milestone event.

“Katherine has brought joy to millions through her voice and we are delighted to partner with her to bring her new premium gin & tonic to the stadium to delight our discerning fans.”

Katherine will make a special appearance on the pitch ahead of the match in the build-up to the match to announce the launch of Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic and its ongoing list across selected bars in the Principality Stadium.

Katherine launched her own ‘female-forward’ premium gin called Cygnet last May.

The opera singer has turned her hand to a brand new business venture and is the first female founder of a celebrity gin just four miles down the road from where she grew up.

Katherine celebrated the release of the spirit and held a party at the Rosewood Hotel in London.

The two spirits – Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin and Cygnet 22 Gin – retail between £35 and £47.50, with Katherine’s husband Andrew on board and Eric Villency, who designed products such as Peloton and Rock Star Energy drinks.

Speaking about her new business, Katherine said: ‘The Cygnet combines the finest local botanicals with pure Welsh water and is surrounded by the nature and beauty of the valleys, a whole lot of ‘Hwyl!’ (an ecstatic sense of inspiration unique to Wales).

‘I’ve also included my ‘secret ingredient’ in Cygnet 22, Manuka Honey, which I use to take care of my voice.

She added: ‘All this results in an ultra-premium gin so smooth you can sip it alone.’

As a female founder, Katherine added that she is passionate about talking woman to woman.

Tired of male spirit products, she wanted to break the mold and create a ‘Best in Glass’ gin for the sisterhood of gin lovers.
