Katherine Heigl Reveals the REAL Reason She Left Grey’s Anatomy

Katherine Heigl turned her back on the hit ABC series Grey’s Anatomy in its sixth season in 2010.

And the actress, 42, now says that despite rumors of feuds on set and the fact that she is “difficult” to work with, her family really pushed her out of the limelight.

“I started a family and it changed everything,” Katherine, who helped Dr. Izzie Stephens starred in the medical drama, The Daily Telegraph on Friday.

“It changed my desire to work full-time. I went on family leave and just need a [mother], and it changed my whole perspective. That was really the turning point.

‘So before I had to go back, I spoke to again’ [show runner] shonda [Rhimes] about wanting to leave. Then I waited at home until I got the formal agreement that I was off the show. The rumors that I refused to return were completely untrue,” she added.

Katherine went on to claim that she was encouraged to try and balance her career with motherhood in order to stay on the series.

‘[Shonda] wanted to try and figure out how to do both [parenting and Grey’s], and I actually wanted to do both. There was no great way to jeopardize the work schedule without negatively affecting the crew or the cast,” added Katherine.

Katherine shares daughters Adalaide, 14, and Nancy Leigh, 12, as well as son Joshua, 4, with her husband, Josh Kelley, whom she married in 2007.

The couple adopted Naleigh from South Korea when she was nine months old and Adalaide at birth in the US. In 2016, they also welcomed their biological son Joshua.

The family lives a quiet life on a Utah ranch.

Throughout her career, Heigl has faced controversy after controversy—starting with minor film roles in the mid-1990s—many sparked by comments she made herself.

While taking on the role of Dr. Starring Izzie Stephens in Grey’s Anatomy, the actress caused outrage when she declined to nominate herself for an Emmy Award in 2008, claiming she “hadn’t been given the material to warrant a nomination.”

Then, in 2009, during an appearance on David Letterman, she criticized the show’s producers for making the cast work a 17-hour day, calling them “cruel and mean.”

Heigl left the show the following year to pursue movie roles, but after scoring a few big hits with comedies such as Knocked Up, which she criticized as “a little sexist,” and 27 Dresses, her other on-screen projects underperformed. , if not completely flopped, at the checkout.

She also struggled to escape her negative reputation, leading some forums to label her as “the most hateful actress in Hollywood.”

Katherine has recently made a comeback and is currently starring in the Netflix series Firefly Lane, which was recently renewed for a second season.
