The actress, 49, who was then 22 in 1997, became emotional and cried during an interview with 60 Minutes as she recalled criticism about her weight at the time.
Lee now stars, which he also produced, and said: “It was absolutely horrendous.
‘What kind of person must you be to do something like that to a young actress who’s just trying to figure it out?’
Beginning to cry, she said: “I came face to face. I let them have it. I said, “I hope this haunts you.”

The interview includes a cut to a red carpet host telling Winslet that she looked “a little melted and spilled” in a dress and that she should have worn a dress “two sizes too big.”
Speaking about her new role, in which she plays Elizabeth Lee Miller, a model who became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine during World War II, Winslet recalled a recent moment when a crew member asked her that “absorbed.”
‘People say, “Oh, you were so brave for this role because you’re not wearing makeup.”
‘Do we tell men, “Oh, you were so brave for this role that you grew a beard”? No, we don’t. It happens to me all the time. It’s not brave, it’s acting the part.
When asked if it was true that a crew member had asked him to sit down because he had a lump, he said: “Yeah, you might want to just suck and sit down.”
And no, I don’t think Lee would have done it. I don’t mind showing that. It’s exhausting.’
Recently, Winslet and her Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, 50, reunited 27 years later when they attended a screening of their new film, Lee, together in Los Angeles.
The pair starred together as Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater in James Cameron’s 1997 box office hit.
