Gold Coast influencer Kate Szepanowski seemed unfazed as she arrived at Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday to support her boyfriend Jordan Roman Brennan as he faced drug charges.

Brennan, 31, has been charged with two counts of attempted possession of a commercial quantity of cocaine.

Ms Szepanowski, older sister of fellow influencer Chloe Szepanowski, applied bright red lip gloss in front of the cameras as she addressed court.

She looked very different from the bright Instagram photos she shared just a year ago, with her blonde hair now a dramatic dark brown shade.

The socialite wore a modest green satin halter-neck top, black suit pants, black patent leather shoes and a black leather handbag.

Szepanowski, 29, has kept a low profile in recent months, acting as a guest while her two sisters Chloe and Amy played the role of bridesmaids at their mother Sherree’s wedding earlier this month.

Wednesday’s hearing comes after Crown prosecutor Patrick Wilson told a Brisbane Supreme Court jury on Monday that two men sat in a van and swore in frustration after allegedly failing to find 48kg of cocaine hidden in a shipping container.

Brennan and Brendan John Sipple allegedly searched the container on June 12, 2020, searching for 42 packages of cocaine hidden in its refrigeration unit.

“The defendants repeatedly traveled from the Gold Coast to the Port of Brisbane, often late at night, spending a considerable amount of time in close proximity to where the container was located,” Mr Wilson said.

Both Mr Brennan and Mr Sipple have pleaded not guilty to attempting to possess a commercial quantity of illegally imported drugs.

Police devices attached to the defendants’ Hyundai iLoad van tracked their movements and recorded their conversations.

Prosecutor Wilson said Brennan was recorded at 2:22 a.m. on June 11, 2020, speaking to Sipple about searching for a shipping container on a previous occasion.

“We spent so many hours there that if we had the right tools from the beginning, brother, they were ours,” Mr. Brennan allegedly said.

Mr Sipple allegedly responded: “It’s a big win, lad.” A very, very big profit.”

Wilson said port workers in Belgium had found the packages, which contained between 82 and 96 percent pure cocaine, in February and the drugs were confiscated by police.

The container arrived in Brisbane on June 6 under surveillance by Queensland and federal police.

Wilson said the port yard was packed with thousands of containers, but Brennan and Sipple were only interested in one.

“What is in dispute in this trial is what (Brennan and Sipple’s) intent was when they entered the yard in the early hours of June 12,” Wilson said.

The listening device in the defendants’ van recorded their conversation after leaving the yard.

‘I’m really angry because you’ve done these two with me and you have nothing to show for it. “I want to do this damn shit to give you something,” Mr. Brennan was allegedly recorded saying.

The prosecutor said Brennan’s DNA was later found on a glove left next to the container the defendants were looking for, and that panels had been removed from the sides of the container.

Brennan’s defense attorney, Saul Holt, told jurors it was clear his client had come to the yard for an illegal purpose.

‘This is not a court of morals, it is a court of justice. “He will be rightfully upset by the behavior (Brennan) engaged in. He will hate the idea of cocaine being imported into Australia and the damage it can cause,” Mr Holt said.

Holt said Brennan did not access the container or attempt to extract cocaine and the jury would determine that meant he was not guilty of the crime he was charged with.

Sipple’s defense attorney, Josh Underwood, said the trial was not about whether his client had entered the yard or committed any other crime, but rather whether he had accessed the shipping container.
