Kate Ritchie is ready to make a triumphant return to the small screen.

The former Home and Away actor is set to star in Channel Seven’s miniseries The Claremont Murders, and a new trailer was released on Sunday.

The 44-year-old actor’s role was kept under wraps with filming taking place undercover in Perth in August and September last year.

In the clip, Kate begs, “Just tell us where Sarah is, please,” while acting opposite Erik Thomson.

It refers to Sarah Spiers, who disappeared from Perth, Western Australia in 1996.

It looks like Ritchie and Thomson are playing the missing woman’s parents, Carol Spiers and Don Spiers.

The miniseries covers the Claremont murders, one of the most high-profile mysteries to hit the nation.

When three young women went missing in Claremont in the late 1990s, it sparked the biggest unsolved murder case in Western Australian history.

It took 25 years to solve the crime, and the miniseries will tell the story of how the Claremont killer was caught.

The Claremont Murders follows the police investigation and the twists and turns that brought a serial killer to justice.

It focuses on the police who never gave up on the case and the journalist who followed the case from the day the first woman disappeared, until the end of the trial.

The two-part drama event stars Ryan Johnson, Catherine Văn-Davies, Aaron Glenane, Laura Gordon, Andrea Demetriades, Craig Hall, Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, Tasma Walton, Joel Jackson, Tom O’Sullivan, Erik Thomson and Kate Ritchie.

A release date has yet to be announced, but the series is coming soon to Channel 7 and 7plus.

Kate hasn’t taken on an acting role since leaving Home and Away in 2013, after playing the darling Sally Fletcher in 1988.

She also appeared in Underbelly as Judy Kane in 2009 and Cops LAC as Samantha Cooper in 2010, in addition to roles in Mr & Mrs Murder and It’s a Date in 2013.

Since then, Kate has turned her attention to a successful radio career.
