Kate Middleton dubbed the ‘Princess of Sport’ by royal fans as she puts Federer through his paces

Date:

Kate Middleton has been dubbed the ‘Princess of Sport’ by impressed royal fans after putting Roger Federer through his paces at Wimbledon.

The royal, 41, appeared in a new video with the tennis champion, 41, to highlight the hard work of the ball boys and girls at the upcoming tournament.

During the four-minute video, which has been uploaded to the Wimbledon YouTube channel, the Princess of Wales is seen serving against Federer – who has won the championship eight times.

Kate managed to shoot past the Swiss star, prompting her to exclaim: “I think it was on the line.” Amazing!’

As well as this, the royal – who is patron of the All England Tennis Club – has also received training from a ballerina called Mollie on how best to throw the balls at players.

In a cheeky moment, Federer even scolds the princess for catching a ball instead of letting it bounce.

He said, ‘Do you have the right to do this? In Australia they catch it but in Wimbledon they don’t catch it!

Moreover, the princess also took the opportunity to try and get some sneaky coaching advice from the former world number 1.

“Any advice on my service at the same time would be very helpful,” Kate said.

But Federer only responded with a compliment saying: “The serve looks good.”

After being shot in front of the 41-year-old, who retired from the sport last year, Kate gives a celebratory pat on the shoulder to her doubles partner Joel Eboewe, Wimbledon Junior Tennis coach Initiative, which gives free lessons to local children.

The video ends with Kate and Roger visiting one of the indoor training centers – where the Princess praised the “incredible” youngsters who have been selected to take part in this year’s tournament.

Since the video was uploaded earlier this morning, it has already amassed over 65,000 views.

To play the role of a Wimbledon ballerina, Kate then donned a £125 long-sleeved jacket with the signature purple and green shades on the cuffs, neckline and zip.

Apart from her engagement ring, Kate has kept her jewelery to a minimum – opting for a pair of £17 gold hoop earrings from British brand Orelia.

Kate then tied her long brown hair in a high ponytail and opted for a subtle brown smokey eye.

In 2017, Kate presented Roger with the Wimbledon trophy after the Swiss star beat Marin Cilic in straight sets.

Kate and Federer were due to take part in a charity tennis day last year, but the princess pulled out after the Queen’s funeral.

Federer has become a friend of the Royals and the Middletons, even attending Kate’s sister Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017.
