The Duchess of Cambridge is hosting a seminar with First Lady Jill Biden today to discuss women’s empowerment at the G7 summit
The Duchess of Cambridge and US First Lady Jill Biden will hold a discussion on women’s empowerment as the G7 summit kicks off in Cornwall later in the day.
Kate Middleton and Ms Biden will meet for the first time and will also talk about children and early childhood education during their seminar.
This will be the third time Kate, 39, has met a president and his wife that Barack and Michelle Obama met in 2011 and 2016.
For First Lady Jill Biden, 70, the G7 summit is the first time she has left the US since husband Joe became president.
according to CNN, the couple also plans to visit a school in Cornwall later in the day as part of their meeting.
The summit is expected to kick off tomorrow afternoon, with world leaders gathering on the beach at 2 p.m. for a ‘family photo’.
The first session will be on ‘building back better’ after the pandemic for the G7 countries and the rest of the world.
In the evening, the Queen and Prince Charles host a reception at the Eden Project for world leaders and their husbands.
William and Kate will join the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at the Eden Project reception on Friday evening.
US First Lady Jill Biden described the summit and their visit to the UK as a ‘beautiful start’
This is the first time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have attended official G7 summit events, marking another milestone in their advancement as senior royals.
Prince Charles will host an additional reception where he will brief leaders about his ‘sustainable markets initiative’.
The royal family will then depart and the chiefs and their husbands will then dine, prepared by local chef Emily Scott, before returning to the prime location in Carbis Bay.
On Sunday, President Biden and his wife Jill travel to Windsor Castle for an audience with the Queen – their first official meeting since he became president.
When asked about the visit, Jill Biden said, “Well, we hope to focus, I think, on education.
“Joe and I are both looking forward to meeting the Queen. That is an exciting part of the visit for us.

“We’ve been looking forward to this for weeks and now it’s finally here. It’s a good start.’
The Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022 and on Friday the monarch, along with Kate and Camilla, will attend an event celebrating The Big Lunch, an initiative led by the Eden Project.
The royal party will meet local Big Lunch volunteers and thank them for their efforts to support their communities through the challenges of the past year.
