Kate Middleton had to endure an awkward walk outside Windsor Castle following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The Princess of Wales, along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, joined the public to commemorate the loss of Her Majesty, feeling noticeably uncomfortable during the half-hearted gestures of unity.
Royal author Robert Jobson detailed the situation:“Speaking to Harry on the phone, he (William) suggested that they and their wives make a show of unity for the sake of their late grandmother by viewing the floral tributes together at Windsor. Harry agreed.
The resulting footage suggested everyone had returned to their Fab Four routine, but Catherine later admitted to a member of the Royal Family that such was the level of bad blood between the couples, the walk had been the hardest thing she had ever had to do.
Jobson added“At her funeral, Catherine, who radiated poise, calm and regal impregnability, took her place as one of the most senior members of the Royal Family, supporting the frail and grieving Queen and comforting Prince Charles.
She also deployed her diplomatic skills to try to deal with the bad blood between her husband and his brother as they both mourned their grandfather in silence.” During the funeral procession, Kate played a crucial role in managing the tension between Prince William and Prince Harry.
“Harry had walked quickly towards Catherine as she left the chapel behind her husband and other family members. Subtly, she increased her pace so that they could catch up with William, who was a few steps ahead. She then hung back, to allow the siblings to walk side by side and at least exchange a few words.” Jobson noted.
Kate’s efforts during these difficult times reflect her dedication to maintaining the appearance of unity within the royal family, despite underlying tensions. Her actions at Windsor Castle and at the funeral demonstrate her commitment to supporting her husband and upholding the family’s public image, even in the face of personal discomfort and strained relationships.
