Tennis legend Maria Sharapova looked unrecognizable as she attended Paris Fashion Week in a sleek all-black outfit on Sunday.

The former Wimbledon champion rose to fame when she beat top seed and defending champion Serena Williams on Center Court to claim her first Grand Slam at the age of just 17 in 2004.

Sharapova triumphed in four more Grand Slam events before her retirement in 2020 and has since focused primarily on business and fashion interests.

Attending Paris Fashion Week for a Valentino event, the 36-year-old stunned the French capital with her stylish look, ditching the trademark blonde locks she sported as a player.

During her historic time on court, Sharapova became the first Russian player to complete her career Grand Slam after victories in Melbourne, New York, Paris and London and the third-youngest woman to triumph at Wimbledon.

Her career was marred by a failed drug test in 2016, which saw Sharapova suspended for two years after she was found to have ingested meldonium, a substance that had been banned earlier that year, before the Australian Open.

Her suspension was later reduced to 15 months after she was found to have taken the medication on her doctor’s advice, and Sharapova returned to competition in April 2017 before winning the Tianjin Open seven months later.

After struggling with chronic shoulder problems for several years, Sharapova finally announced her retirement in 2020 and shared an emotional farewell message with her fans.

“How do you leave behind the only life you’ve ever known?” Sharapova wrote.

“How do you walk away from the courts you’ve trained on since you were a little girl, the game you love – one that brought you untold tears and untold joys – a sport where you found a family, along with fans who rallied behind of you for more than 28 years?
