Kate Ferdinand has revealed that she secretly cried when she learned to be a stepmother to her husband Rio’s three children.
The former TOWIE star, 30, took to Instagram on Wednesday and shared a statement about life as a stepmother with Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and Tia, 10, who had Rio, 42, with late wife Rebecca Ellison.
The message read: ‘A good stepmother (sic) is not made, she is built. She was built by the rigors of her role, the tears she secretly cries, and the lessons she learns through trial and error.

‘The passionate stepmother lives in all of us. She makes mistakes. She has strong opinions that she often cannot express. She stays silent when she wants to scream.
“She makes sacrifices that others may not be able to make. She is learning to love in so many different ways. And she gives.
“She gives her heart, her soul and her life to ensure that a child she has given birth does not smile, has wonderful memories and – most importantly – feels loved.”
Kate, who recently celebrated her 30th birthday, is mother to son Cree, six months, with Rio.

It comes after Kate recently confirmed she doesn’t plan on having any more children anytime soon, claiming she’d be a ‘crazy’ to do so following the birth of son Cree in December.
She told MailOnline, “I think four is enough, there’s a lot going on and a lot of crying,” she said. ‘It’s a busy house. So I guess I’d be crazy if I wanted more! Four is enough for now.’
Satisfied with her current family composition, she threw herself into her husband and said, “Rio was great with Cree, he’s a great dad, the kids love having the little one too!”
Kate has been open about the challenges she’s faced since welcoming Cree, as she admitted earlier this month that exhaustion and anxiety had reached an “all-time high” after the birth.

The mother needed an emergency cesarean section during labour, which she is still recovering from after being unable to walk for six weeks.
According to Kate, the difficulties she has faced as a parent are not always truthfully portrayed or discussed on social media.
She said: “It’s important to be honest on Instagram and share your feelings, even if I’m feeling down or emotional or failed to do something I set out to do.
“I often feel like people aren’t open, especially when it comes to pregnancy or becoming a new mom. They always want to put up the best picture without showing the reality.

“I used to pressure myself to look a certain way and stay in shape, but I’m a lot more comfortable now that I’m open and honest with myself.
“There’s so much advice that I missed during pregnancy that people just don’t talk about, like having a cesarean section.
“It’s a major surgery and because it was an emergency surgery it was traumatic and a lot to heal from. I’m just trying to listen to my body and accept the changes.
“I used to love being on top of my fitness, but now I need to let myself heal and not rush things. I don’t need to get excited about it.’
The reality star rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex in 2015 before turning her back to the spotlight in 2017 after sparking a romance with former Manchester United and English legend Rio.
