Woman dubbed 'Karen of the Week' for trying to cordon off areas of a public beach will face a hefty fine

The belligerent woman who tried to cordon off a public beach outside her stunning California home while hurling insults at a shocked family is to be slapped with hefty fines.

A viral video showed the woman yelling at a family with small children to “get out of here! Now!” as they back away while she unrolls a white rope to separate her $6 million Laguna Beach property.

The California Coastal Commission, a state agency that oversees more than 1,000 miles of coastline, found the Karen of the Week violated California’s Coastal Act.

Under California law, the state owns the beach located oceanward of the mean high tide line, meaning the public can use all areas between this point and the ocean.

According to documents consulted by KCAL-TVThe commission argued that the owner “was verbally harassing bathers.”

The Coastal Commission also said that using ropes to block sand “is not legal and must be removed.”

The woman has two weeks to comply or she could face fines of up to $11,000 a day.

“Park rangers spoke with residents, informing them that such behavior is unacceptable regardless of property lines and reminding them that any beach-related issues should be reported to the city for mediation,” the city of Laguna Beach said.

The video begins with the homeowner shouting “there goes the fence!” as she emerges from her home equipped with a spool of white rope.

She throws the reel into the sand, shouting at the tourists to go away.

“I can say whatever I want, so move the fuck away,” he yells.

“This is not a place for Instagram photos,” he adds, marking out his part of the beach.

‘You’re on my property, move now. You’re now on the edge of my property. Move.’

“Ma’am, we’re walking,” a woman is heard replying, while the homeowner replies: “Quite slowly.”

The rhetoric escalates when the tourist responds: “Jesus Christ… shut the f*** up!” before calling her “Karen of the week.”
