Kanye West’s tenth album Donda surpassed nearly 100 million streams within the first 24 hours of its release on Spotify.
The 27-track record reached the milestone on the Global Spotify Chart on Sunday, according to ChartData, making it the platform’s second-biggest album debut of all time.
However, the date has not yet been verified by the streaming giant itself.
It’s a promising sign for the 44-year-old rapper, who claimed on Instagram this weekend that Universal released the LP without his permission.

However, he is still one step behind his arch-rival Drake, who has the biggest debut of all time for his fifth album Scorpion, which clocked 132 million streams.
Kanye’s Donda is said to have reached exactly 94,455,883 streams.
However, like UpRoxx reports, the album was released around 8 a.m., and not the usual midnight time for most albums, meaning this was based on just 16 hours of listening time.

Drake today confirmed that his new album Certified Love Boy will be released this Friday, September 3.
Meanwhile, the release of Kanye’s Donda has been anything but smooth.
After a year-long delay, the rapper began hosting a number of controversial listening parties, including Marilyn Manson, DaBaby and his estranged wife Kim Kardashian in a wedding dress.

His manager, Bu Thiam, confirmed the record had been dropped on social media and posted a screenshot of one of the album’s 26 tracks alongside the caption, “Listening now Donda.”
Fans rushed to Twitter in the wake of its release to call it “one of the greatest works of art of all time.”
On social media, one person gushed, “I just finished listening to DONDA. That was possibly the most beautiful, breathtaking and angelic album I’ve ever experienced.

A fourth person tweeted, “You heard it first folks, donda’s okay!” [sic] as a fifth commented, “Okay Donda is actually quite fire.”

Donda’s album artwork is a simple black square and the record stands at an impressive 108 minutes.
The album features artists such as The Weeknd, Jay-Z, Young Thug, Travis Scott and Kid Cudi.
The record — named after Kanye’s late mother Donda West, who died in 2007 at age 58 — follows three high-profile listening parties held in both Chicago and Atlanta through July.
