Kanye West’s Air Yeezy trainers were auctioned for $ 1 million in Sotheby’s most expensive shoe list
Kanye West’s Air Yeezy trainers are up for auction for $ 1 million (£ 726,400).
The 43-year-old rapper wore the shoes during his iconic Grammys performance in 2008, and the size 12 sneakers are Sotheby’s most expensive shoe offer ever.
The black leather sneakers – which feature a faded Nike logo and were designed by Kanye and Mark Smith at Nike’s Innovation Kitchen in Oregon – will be on display at collector Ryan Chang’s exhibition in Hong Kong between April 16 and April 21.

The Stronger hitmaker’s Yeezy line – launched in 2015 – then made him a billionaire thanks to the collections’ resounding success.
Kanye created his exclusive shoe brand in collaboration with Adidas in 2015, and that same year unveiled his first clothing collection called Yeezy Season 1.
Before his Yeezy partnership, the doting dad designed shoes for Bathing Ape and Nike in 2012, but after five years and three designs, Kanye ended their partnership as the latter had not awarded him any royalties.
Speaking of the 2012 release of Nike Air Yeezy II, Kanye said: “It was the first shoe to have the same impact as an Air Jordan, and I wanted to do more. And at the time, Nike refused to give celebrities royalties on their shoes. ‘

Kanye continued his successful long-term partnership with Adidas after they agreed to pay him royalties, and the rapper prefers to make limited quantities of his trainer releases as it helps the brand stay relevant and ‘sell’ .
He explained, “What makes celebrity products sell so well is scarcity. So if they make it too widely available, I think this will crash the business model. ‘
Meanwhile, Kanye has responded to estranged wife Kim Kardashians’ divorce petition on Feb. 19, asking for joint custody of their four children.
The rapper / fashion designer’s filings are practically the same as his reality star ex’s, according to TMZ, with West asking for joint legal and physical custody of North, Seven, Saint, Five, Chicago, Three and Psalm, nearly two.

Joint custody doesn’t necessarily mean a 50/50 arrangement, with Kim, 40, likely their primary caregiver.
In the future, the couple will almost certainly work out a settlement to be approved by the court. The couple is committed to co-parenting.
Neither Kanye nor Kim – both Forbes billionaires – will seek support from their partner. Both have agreed to pay their own legal fees.
A marriage contract has already been instituted, which likely provides a strong framework for how the couple will divide their assets.

Interestingly, neither party has indicated a date of divorce in their paperwork.
Kardashian has hired Laura Wasser, a Hollywood divorce attorney, reportedly the inspiration for Laura Dern’s Oscar-winning role in Marriage Story.
The attorney also represented her in the ending of her second marriage to husband Kris Humphries, which lasted only 72 days. Before that, the star was married to producer Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004.
According to TMZ, Kim can hold the family’s Hidden Hills home so as not to uproot the children.
Kim officially filed for divorce on Feb. 19, with sources saying it had been months since she and Kanye last spoke.
