Named after the rapper’s late mother, Donda West, Donda gives devout fans an inside look at his crumbling marriage to Kim Kardashian, and features collaborations with Jay-Z and Travis Scott.
Kanye revealed the album album via live stream on Apple Music while he was having a listening party on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The stadium has a capacity of 71,000, with Kanye reportedly giving away “5,000 tickets” to students in the Atlanta area, while some fans “paid several hundred dollars for seats.”
His estranged wife Kim was also among those in attendance alongside their daughter North and son Saint.

However, several of Kanye’s fans did not tune in to the event as they expected the album to be released on streaming services immediately after.
Expressing their frustrations after discovering this wasn’t the case, they wrote, “So Kanye West sold out the stadium to release his album #DONDA just to disappoint them and not drop it? They should all sue him to get their money back.”
“Ok so I went to sleep and now I’m awake, I thought Kanye was going to drop #DONDA where it was, did I miss something?”; “I can’t believe Kanye still hasn’t dropped Donda.
“I swear to god, all I looked forward to all month was Ye would fall. I’ve been imagining Donda for a year now and I thought Kanye might fall today. Think Kanye draws a typical Kanye, I’m going back to bed’;
lmfao, why did people expect Kanye to drop at midnight, as he and his label announced? he never does, he will randomly drop Donda on Sunday or maybe in a year’; “Kanye makes me look so f$@ken stoopid! [sic]’.

MailOnline has reached out to Kanye’s representatives for comment.
At the listening party, Kanye arrived two hours late before quietly walking onto the stage as his album played 48 minutes.
He didn’t speak during the event, but fell to the ground with his head in his hands when a song titled LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY, dedicated to his failed marriage to Kim, started playing.
The touching song featured the voice of the rapper’s late mother, Donda, who repeatedly said, “No matter what happens, you never abandon your family.”

A source told AND! News Thursday that Kanye gave Kim a “heads up” about the very personal song, which elicited a powerful emotional response from the rapper.
“He was respectful and gave her the heads up,” the insider said, adding that Kanye “didn’t want to dazzle the 40-year-old SKIMS founder.”
After the music ended, Kanye walked off the stage in silence.
Those who were able to listen to the album then took to Twitter to express their excitement, penning: ‘DONDA REVIEW 7.9 THIS IS BASED ON WATCH PARTY SURE THE OFFICIAL RELEASE HAS A HIGHER SCORE.
“My only criticism is that @kanyewest feels the first half feels like a feature on its own album. But when the 2nd act hits OMG. Production is leading the way as always;
Kanye West’s Donda Review. A word. Masterpiece. I lost it this morning. Tears in my eyes as I listened to South Carolina. The Donda monster is insane. It felt so real. Kanye is the father of samples, we all know that but damn’;
VIP: The stadium has a capacity of 71,000 seats and Kanye reportedly gave away ‘5,000 tickets’ to students in the Atlanta area and estranged wife Kim was also among those in attendance
‘real review is donda is a breath of fresh air, still feels classic to kanye while feeling new, with one of the best overall album themes ever, all the features definitely contributed to the memorability and replayability, it’s so diverse it stands out for erryone’;
DONDA REVIEW: Kanye West’s Donda is a cinematic masterpiece. With features from Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott and Baby Keem, this album really has the heart and soul it needs. Great messages and even better music. Kanye is back. RATING: 9/10.’;
There are some good things about this album, features were fire, production was fire, mixing was bad and songs seemed way too short. I think hopefully we’ll get a lot more as it goes down, we’ve got songs that Kanye wasn’t even out of. #DONDA please be good. [sic]’.
Everything comes back to her: As the stream closed, a photo of a very young Donda West appeared on the screen for those who watched the event via Apple Music
Donda was originally scheduled to premiere on July 24, 2020, but was unexpectedly delayed amid Kanye’s failed presidential bid.
At the time, he released the title track Donda on what would have been his mother’s 71st birthday, alongside a nostalgic visual filled with home video footage of the couple.
Donda is the follow-up album to 2019’s Jesus Is King, which launched Kanye into the realm of gospel music – inspiring the birth of his weekly Sunday Service sessions.
Dedication: The album’s name and title track refer to the rapper’s late mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 58 from complications caused by cosmetic surgery
