Hip-hop artist Kanye West turned to social media to deny that he was "perplexed" after talk show host Jimmy Kimmel asked him about the US president. UU., Donald Trump.
Last Thursday, West made his first appearance in Jimmy Kimmel live! in almost five years and he was asked if the president of the United States, Donald Trump, cares about the "people".
"You've said so famously and powerfully that George Bush does not care about black people, it makes me wonder what makes you think Donald Trump does it, or anyone else," Kimmel asked West.
After the question, West remained silent looking up, before Kimmel finished with a commercial break.
Users of social networks reacted quickly to the unexpected silence, claiming that West had been "perplexed" by the question.
But on Sunday, West tried to clarify his comments on Twitter by stating that he was not "perplexed" but that he needed time to think.
"In Jimmy Kimmel we had a great time having a dialogue, I'm reading, I was puzzled by a question, let me clarify the click bait, I was not puzzled, I did not have the opportunity to answer the question," he wrote.
Kimmel came out in defense of West after the show, tweeting that not all questions "justify an immediate response".
Earlier in the program, Kimmel, an outspoken critic of the Trump administration, intervened on West's support for the president, which the artist admitted had more to do with personal choice and confusing criticism than Trump's policies.
"Everyone around me tried to choose my candidate, and then they told me that every time I said that I liked Trump I could not say it out loud or that my career would end, I was kicked out of the black community," he said.
"So even when I said it just before going to the hospital and I expressed myself … When I left, I had lost confidence, and it took me a year and a half to have the confidence to stand and put on my hat, no matter what the consequences .
"What it means to me is not about politics," he said.
"It represented overcoming fear and doing what you felt, no matter what anyone said, and saying:" You can not intimidate me. "" I enjoy when people are angry with me, "he concluded.
West had previously referred to US President Donald Trump as his "brother" and they shared "dragon energy".
