The Kansas City Chiefs will welcome Clyde Edwards-Helaire back to the team on Sunday amid his ongoing battle with severe post-traumatic stress disorder and mental health issues.
Running back Edwards-Helaire has yet to play so far this season amid a mysterious non-football-related illness, missing the first three games.
A video emerged on social media of Edwards-Helaire dancing in the locker room after practice earlier this week, and the team has now confirmed the positive news that he is once again available for selection.
The Chiefs were praised by players and fans last week after it emerged they had kept the former first-round pick on the roster in his absence, a move they didn’t have to make.
The organization’s kind gesture caught the attention of a teammate, standout defensive end Chris Jones, who took to social media to praise the Chiefs.

‘A classy move…’ Jones wrote on X as other fans flooded the comments.
“The Chiefs are always ahead when it comes to how they treat their players,” an added user.
Edwards-Helaire is entering his fifth season with the reigning Super Bowl champions. The Chiefs selected him with the 32nd pick in 2020 and he quickly established himself as their primary running back in his rookie campaign.

Although his role has diminished in the years since, his return on Sunday comes at a great time with Isiah Pacheco out for several weeks with a fractured fibula.
The running back job has been shared by Carson Steele and Samaje Perine since Pacheco’s injury, and Kareem Hunt will also rotate after re-signing with his former team last week.
Despite their injury concerns, the Chiefs are 3-0 to start the year and will face the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
