Was a moving truck pictured outside the president’s guesthouse Thursday, as Vice President Kamala Harris prepares to move into her official residence after reports that she is “frustrated” by the slow renovation process.
Harris and second Mr. Doug Emhoff have lived in Blair House across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House since the January 20 inauguration.
They will finally move into the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory next week, a Harris spokesperson said Thursday.
“The Vice President and Second Gentleman will move into the Vice President’s residence at the Naval Observatory residence next week,” tweeted “Harris” spokesman Symone Sanders. “The move was initially delayed to allow for repairs to the home that can be more easily done when the home is unoccupied.”
Becoming vice president, Harris and Emhoff moved to the president’s luxurious guesthouse as renovations and updates were completed to the mansion located at One Observatory Circle in northwest Washington, DC.
Reports surfaced over the weekend that Harris was becoming “ frustrated ” at having to live without suitcases and not yet moving into her official home.

The Vice President’s Residence at the Naval Observatory in North West Washington, DC is undergoing renovations that can be made more easily when empty, such as updating the HVAC system and all seven working chimneys
Repairs and maintenance could be done more easily with an empty house, incorporated into the HVAC system, replaced linings in all seven working chimneys, and some hardwood floors renovated.
Harris may have pushed the timeline further by asking for the kitchen to be worked on. Admittedly, the vice president likes to cook.
“She is getting frustrated,” an administrative officer told CNN on Saturday of the ongoing construction, noting that the vice president’s desire to move to her designated home is intensifying every day.
The vice president’s official residence is a stately mansion two and a half miles from the White House at the Naval Observatory.

Usually in the transition of residents there are a few weeks when Navy personnel operating the house can freshen up the house and prepare for the upcoming vice president.
However, the second couple was unable to move into their private residence for more than two months after the inauguration as renovations and construction continue.
Built in 1893, the vice president’s official residence is regularly updated and renovated.
An administration official said the delay in construction has made Harris increasingly irritable.
Harris was recently spotted viewing the 9,000-square-foot mansion – he even stopped by three weeks ago for a one-hour visit, according to CNN
Harris knew at the time of the inauguration that she would not move into her home right away as it would require repairs that could be done more easily with an empty house.
While Blair House is comfortable and luxurious, Harris tends to prefer more casual, modern, and sleek accommodations. In January, Harris moved from her minimalist DC apartment to Blair House.
Blair House’s more than 100 rooms include a gym, on-site hair salon and thousands of museum-quality antiques and pieces.
The Blair House has been referred to as ‘the most exclusive hotel in the world’ because it is primarily used as a guest house for visiting foreign leaders, dignitaries and other guests of the President.

Her apartment was light and airy and modern, consistent with her more casual style – in contrast to the formal and antique character of Blair House.
Biden was delighted to talk about his time at One Observatory Circle, especially praising the heated pool installed by former Vice President Dan Quayle.
“You’re on 80 acres and look out over the rest of the city,” Biden said. “You can walk out, and there’s a pool.”
“You can cycle around and never leave the grounds and exercise – but the White House is very different,” he praised.
The Vice President’s Residence (VPR) is on 13 acres of fenced land, not 80.
However, the entire compound of the Naval Observatory is 72 acres and includes several buildings and offices.
