A new poll shows that Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump among women over 50 by more than any presidential candidate since 2016.
The poll shows that 54% of women in that demographic plan to vote for the vice president, compared to just 42% for Trump.
That’s a big improvement over Joe Biden, who in January only led Trump by three points among women over 50.
The numbers are also better than Hillary Clinton’s in 2016, who got 48% to 40% better than Trump.
AARP, which conducted the survey, believes women over 50 can potentially influence the election.

“Our polls over the years have shown that they are a key swing voting bloc,” said AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond.
In the same poll, Democrats led Republicans 51% to 42% in votes on who should control Congress.
An overwhelming majority of women over 50 say the economy and affordability are their biggest problem.
Only a third of respondents say the economy is working well for them personally, and 62% say it is not.
Another 41% of older women are confident that in a year their financial situation will improve, compared to 49% who say they are not sure.
Cost of living is the most important issue for 46% of respondents, followed by immigration at 30%, followed by threats to democracy at 20%.
“Older women are… a large group that is very motivated to vote,” LeaMond added.

Trump on Friday dismissed polls showing he is doing poorly among female voters, calling them “nonsense” and declaring that “women love me,” except, he said, for one thing.
In a live appearance on ‘Fox & Friends,’ Trump was asked about polls showing him losing by double digits among women voters to Kamala Harris.
‘I think I do very well with women, and I think it’s all nonsense. I see the polls and we are doing well,’ said the former president. ‘There is a problem, that of abortion.
“Without abortion, women love me,” Trump insisted.
He Democrat Harris has made the issue of abortion a central point of her campaign.
Abortion has been a major issue among women voters since the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022 overturned Roe v. Wade. Trump named three of the judges who made the historic reversal decision.
