Vice President Kamala Harris was mocked Tuesday night for faking a Southern accent during a campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia.

“You all helped us win in 2020 and we’ll do it again in 2024,” Harris told voters, brutally faking a Southern accent that was mocked by social media users.

Harris often adopts a Southern accent when speaking to voters in Southern communities, despite having grown up in San Francisco and spent her high school years in Montreal, Canada.

She was also criticized for using a much more prominent Southern accent when discussing her experience on the 2020 campaign trail.

“We’ll tell you we were hanging out in a parking lot this Saturday afternoon with Kamala and all our friends,” Harris said, stretching out her vowels during an event in Florida.

At an event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Harris also dropped her accent as she promised voters to “get rid of that tax bill” passed by President Donald Trump.

Voters in the South mocked the vice president, calling her “fake” and “attentive” as her accent did not seem authentic.

Harris has also employed a more Southern accent when speaking to black audiences, including her comments about “preaching” and “testifying” to the truth.

The tendency to affect a more southern accent is not uncommon among politicians.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton faced the same criticism for slurring her words when addressing Southern voters during her presidential campaign.

“I don’t feel tired at all,” Clinton said during her failed 2008 presidential campaign, quoting civil rights leader James “I’ve come too far from where I started.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was criticized as a “total fraud” and accused of adopting a Southern accent during a 2023 event with civil rights organizer Al Sharpton.

“I’m proud to be a waitress, there’s nothing wrong with that,” Ocasio-Cortez said, adding in a drawl: “This is what changing the country looks like.”
