Vice President Kamala Harris condemned racist comments made at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday, saying the event was “aimed at and is fueling the fuel” of division in the United States.

The Democratic presidential candidate spoke to reporters on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews on Monday before heading to Michigan, where she will make multiple campaign stops in the swing state.

His comments on Trump’s rally come after the Republican presidential candidate packed the New York City stadium on Sunday, but is now facing backlash after a series of speakers during the programming made racist and sexist comments.

“I think Donald Trump’s event last night at Madison Square Garden really highlighted a point that he’s been making throughout this campaign. “He’s focused and really obsessed with his grievances, with himself, and with the division of our country. “said the vice president.

Harris described it as “destined and stoking the fuel to try to divide our country.”

The vice president criticized the event as something that in no way serves to strengthen American families and workers.

He stated that the former president does nothing to “support the aspirations, dreams and ambitions of the American people.”

The Trump campaign is now in damage control mode after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “garbage island” at the rally. His campaign said the joke does not reflect the views of the former president or the campaign.

Hinchcliffe also made offensive jokes about Latinos having sex and about Jews and Muslims.

Other speakers at the event mocked Harris’ ethnicity, called her “low IQ,” an “anti-Christ” and mentioned her “pimps.” One speaker called Hillary Clinton a “sick son of a bitch” and Democrats “degenerates.”

The Trump campaign is trying to distance the former president from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe after he called Puerto Rico a “garbage island” at Trump’s rally in New York City.

But Harris said Monday what Trump did Sunday night. “It’s not a discovery.”

“It’s more of the same and maybe more vivid than usual,” he told reporters.

He accused Trump of trying to make Americans point fingers at each other full-time and argued that the American people are tired of him.

‘People are literally ready to move on. They’re tired of this,’ he said.

Trump’s rally in New York City came as Harris unveiled her plan for Puerto Ricans on Sunday with a visit to a Puerto Rican restaurant in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

The vice president promoted the plan that focuses on economic opportunities for the island’s people and the modernization of its network and noted the support of superstars such as Bad Bunny and Jennifer López.

The vice president said she had their support even before “that nonsense last night” because they want someone who will lift people up and “not call America a garbage can.”

On Monday, Harris will campaign in Michigan, where she will focus on manufacturing before a rally at the University of Michigan with her running mate Tim Walz and singer Maggie Rogers.

Rogers is the latest in a series of celebrities and political heavyweights to join the vice president on the campaign trail in the home stretch.

Harris campaigned in Michigan on Saturday with former first lady Michelle Obama, considered one of the Democratic Party’s most well-received speakers.

At that rally in Kalamazoo, Obama painted a graphic picture when he made a direct appeal to men not to leave reproductive health care and women’s lives in the hands of politicians like Trump.

The former first lady also questioned why Harris is being held to a higher standard than Trump on the campaign trail.

A reporter asked Harris about Obama’s comments and double standards on Monday, but she avoided the question.

“My role and responsibility as a candidate for president of the United States is to make my case to the American people and earn their support,” Harris said.

He said that’s why he spends time traveling the country listening to voters and sharing his plans to support them.
