Kamala Harris laughs at a Fox News reporter who asks if she will ever give an interview as a Democratic presidential candidate

Vice President Kamala Harris laughed at Fox News journalist Peter Doocy when he asked her for an interview Thursday night after her speech at the Democratic National Convention.

“Hi, Peter. How are you?” Harris replied after Doocy called her.

“Congratulations,” Doocy said before asking:‘Are you ready for your interview with Fox?’

“I’m working on it!” Harris said with a laugh.

As Fox News’ chief White House correspondent, Doocy has earned the ire and scorn of Democrats for peppering President Joe Biden with uncomfortable questions that resonate with his audience.

Harris spoke briefly to the White House press pool as she left the stadium after delivering her remarks.

Asked by other reporters how he was feeling, Harris said: “I feel good. On to tomorrow.”

“Listen, we have 75 days left, so for better or worse, that’s who I am,” he added. “That was good. Now we have to move on.”

Harris has gone 33 days as the Democratic presidential candidate without sitting down for a press interview.

Harris spokesman Michael Tyler told CNN’s Jim Acosta that the vice president would likely have a one-on-one meeting later this month.

“We are committed to engaging directly with the voters who are really going to decide this election,” he said. “And that will be done through rallies, one-on-one interviews, press conferences, and all the digital resources we have at our disposal.”

As vice president, Harris has a history of struggling in one-on-one interviews, trying to laugh off awkward questions or falling into a spiral of words.

Since becoming a presidential candidate, Harris has struggled even in brief exchanges with reporters.

In an off-the-cuff response to how she would pay for her proposals, Harris repeated the “return on investment” slogan four times in less than a minute.

Biden also faced criticism during his presidential campaign for ignoring the press and not holding news conferences.
