Kamala Harris has still not visited the US-Mexico border and has not even held a press conference on her new duties since she was entrusted with addressing the migrant crisis.
The vice president spent Easter weekend at her home in Brentwood, Southern California, frying a “nice” roast pork with rice and peas, but finding no time to visit the nearby border.
In the past two weeks, she has also visited Connecticut to meet with the Boys and Girls Club of New Haven, meet with Gavin Newsom to show support during his possible recall election, and take a trip to a Chicago bakery.
On March 24, she was tasked with leading efforts to address the “ humanitarian crisis ” amid a wave of migrants who have been trying to enter the US since Joe Biden’s administration took office.
New government statistics released last week showed that 171,000 migrants were caught at the border by US authorities in March – the highest monthly total in two decades.
