The outlet reported that Harris will interview potential nominees in the coming days.

Other names in the mix include Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Shapiro told enthusiastic voters in the Philadelphia suburbs earlier this week that he believes Harris belongs to the White House.

He also reminded those gathered there of all his work as governor in the disputed state.

Meanwhile, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear told Georgia voters that Harris has what it takes to be “a great president” and highlighted elections she won as a Democrat.

According to campaign sources who spoke to the Associated Press, Shapiro and Kelly are among the front-runners.

Harris, according to another person familiar with the matter, is looking for someone with executive experience who could also serve as managing partner.

Notions of a so-called short list have not kept members of the Democrats’ broader national bench from finding themselves in the spotlight.

Shapiro, 51, is one of the most popular governors in the United States and won the 2022 election by defeating a Trump-backed Republican.

He is an outspoken advocate of abortion rights who has won three statewide elections in Pennsylvania.

His speaking style draws comparisons to former President Barack Obama, but he has drawn criticism from the left for his support for Israel’s war on Hamas, a voucher program for private schools and natural gas infrastructure.

Her allies argue that it would help Harris win Pennsylvania, complicating or even blocking Trump’s path to an Electoral College majority.

Harris is the only White House hopeful so far qualified to compete for the Democratic nomination, the Democratic National Committee said Tuesday.

The DNC announcement officially clears the way for the vice president to seek her party’s nomination unopposed.

At a rally on Tuesday, Harris used a line from rapper Quavo to try to turn the tables on Donald Trump over his criticism that she and President Biden have failed at the southern border.

At a campaign rally in Atlanta, he criticized his 2024 presidential rival for “not walking his talk” on illegal immigration.

With the Migos rapper in attendance, along with the raunchy “Savage” singer Megan Thee Stallion, the vice president also pressed her Republican rival to commit to participating in one or more debates rather than continuing to call her out by name publicly, challenging him to “say it to my face.”

Following the statements of both interpreters, Harris He tried to turn the situation around with the argument of open borders by blaming Trump, drawing on his experience as attorney general in California, a state that, he quickly reminded those present, shares a border with Mexico.

“I went after transnational gangs, drug cartels and human traffickers who were illegally entering our country,” Harris said.

‘I prosecuted them case after case and won. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking a lot about securing our border, but he doesn’t act.

“Or as my friend Quavo would say, he don’t talk like he talk,” he quickly added, referencing the rapper’s 2018 Migos hit, “Walk It, Talk It.”

To reinforce her point, Harris pointed to the possible pressure Trump put on his Republican allies in the Senate last January, when he reportedly told them to scrap any border legislation that wasn’t “perfect.”

His comments appeared to reference a recent announcement by Trump’s team focusing on Harris’ questionable record on immigration.

She also referred to Trump calling her “crazy” and “lazy” – criticisms she said would be better addressed face to face.

“I hope you’ll reconsider meeting me on the debate stage, because as the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face,” Harris, 59, said shortly after taking the podium.

He went on to express his desire to win in November and unite the country in the process, while calling his conservative rival a fraud who “doesn’t care.”

“He only cares about himself,” he added, promising to revive the bipartisan border bill if elected.
