Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has finally added an “issues” page to its presidential campaign website, 50 days after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and just in time for her crucial debate with Donald Trump.
The 59-year-old Democratic presidential candidate had been revealing elements of her agenda in some political speeches and campaign ads, but has faced criticism for not providing an in-depth platform and for only giving one major interview.
The new page titled ‘A New Path Forward’ includes four sections: ‘Building an Economy of Opportunity and Lowering Costs for Families,’ ‘Protecting Our Fundamental Freedoms,’ ‘Ensuring Security and Justice for All,’ and ‘Keeping America Safe, Secure, and Prosperous.’
Each section includes a series of positions and proposals. The page also highlights the contrast between Harris and Trump, as her campaign attempts to link him to the far-right conservative agenda of Project 2025.
The website does not address some of his past progressive stances, which he has backed away from since his failed 2020 presidential bid with several notable position shifts.

“Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a new path forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures that every person has the opportunity to not just survive, but thrive,” the website reads.
It portrays the vice president as a former prosecutor and attorney general, using language similar to what Harris has said on the campaign trail.
The section focused on the economy and cost reduction for families is the most extensive so far.
In it, the campaign highlights Harris growing up with a working single mother and discusses her “Opportunity Economy,” promising that as president, Harris will cut taxes for “100 million working and middle-class Americans, while lowering the costs of everyday necessities.”
He highlighted his proposal to expand the Child Tax Credit and his promise not to raise taxes on those earning less than $400,000 a year.
She says she and her running mate, Tim Walz, will “ensure that the wealthiest Americans and the largest corporations pay their fair share, so we can take steps to grow the middle class while reducing the deficit.”
It calls for “reversing Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, enacting a minimum tax on billionaires, quadrupling the tax on stock buybacks, and other reforms to ensure the very wealthy play by the same rules as the middle class.”
He also touts his plan to give $25,000 down payments to first-time homebuyers and expand tax relief for small businesses.
Many of the proposals outlined were first unveiled in policy speeches in North Carolina and then New Hampshire in recent weeks. The page also focuses on efforts to expand caps on drug prices and out-of-pocket costs for prescriptions and cancel medical debt.
There is a short section on Social Security and Medicare, which she says…“Strengthening both in the long term by making millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share.”
He also says he will fight to reduce the costs of caring for the elderly and children.
But he does not go into details beyond mentioning the American Rescue Plan, where some of those measures have already been implemented.
The website also says it will work to address the climate crisis and touts the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act during the Biden administration.
She also says that she is ‘committed to continuing and developing the United States’ international climate leadership.

In the section on protecting fundamental freedoms, the campaign highlights the restoration of reproductive freedoms and the protection of civil rights, two priorities that the vice president has worked on during the Biden administration and pursued during the election campaign.
Harris is a frequent critic of the overturning of the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade. Her website promises that the vice president will never allow a national abortion ban and will sign legislation restoring Roe’s protections when Congress can pass a bill.
Democratic lawmakers have made several efforts to do so since the Roe ruling, but have failed due to a lack of the necessary votes in Congress.
When it comes to safety and justice, the website highlights Harris’ time as a prosecutor and attorney general of California. It says she is fighting to keep communities safe, secure the border and fix the immigration system.
The vice president has been vulnerable to attacks from Republicans over the border, as critics have sought to cast her as the Biden administration’s “border czar.”
Harris has attempted to turn the issue back on Republicans and Trump for thwarting a bipartisan border deal.
The website features Harris’ support for the bipartisan border deal and criticism of Trump, similar to what the vice president has done on the campaign trail. It claims she and Biden took action after the deal was scrapped, but does not mention her work to address the root causes of migration as vice president.
Harris has promised that as president she will bring back the bipartisan agreement and sign it. Her website also states that the vice president knows the immigration system is “broken” and calls for comprehensive reforms that include security and a “‘path won towards citizenship’.
On the opioid crisis, the vice president notes that the bipartisan border agreement she wants to pass includes money for detection technology.
On gun policy, the website also claims Harris would ban assault weapons and require universal background checks, among other things.

In foreign policy, the website touts Harris’ work as vice president and meeting with more than 150 world leaders around the globe, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Also specifically highlighted is the focus on North Korea, Iran, Russia and his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Vice President Harris will always defend Israel’s right to defend itself and will always ensure that Israel has the ability to defend itself,” the website reads.
“She and President Biden are working to end the war in Gaza so that Israel is safe, the hostages are freed, the suffering in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination. She and President Biden are working tirelessly to achieve a hostage agreement and a ceasefire,” she continued.
