A company that makes Bluetooth-enabled earrings that look like the jewelry Kamala Harris wore during the debate has also offered its products to Donald Trump — with one caveat.
Harris, who had previously suggested that Bluetooth headsets posed a “security risk,” was accused of using headphones disguised as pearl earrings to aid her during the 90-minute contest against Republican rival Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Critics have baselessly claimed that the gold pearl earrings — which Harris, 59, has worn before and are believed to be from Tiffany’s — are actually a pair of audio-enabled smart earrings designed by German startup NOVA. The only similarity between the two pairs of earrings appears to be that they both feature a pearl.
Malte Iversen, managing director of Icebach Sound, the manufacturer of NOVA, says he can neither confirm nor deny whether they are his.
“We do not know if Ms. Harris used one of our products. The resemblance is striking and while our product was not specifically developed for use in presidential debates, it is suitable for use,” Iversen said in a statement.

He then poked some fun at Harris’ opponent, while offering him a chance to even the score.
“To ensure a level playing field for both candidates, we are currently developing a men’s version and will soon be able to offer it to the Trump campaign. However, the choice of colour is a bit tricky, as orange does not go well with many colours,” Iversen said. Just the news.
He also clarified that the company is going through difficult times and that they are facing a lawsuit against a Chinese technology company for violating their patents. He adds that they are also exhausted.
“We are in talks with investors to accelerate our operations and we are confident that we will be able to resume shipping soon.”
Harris and Trump faced off in a heated debate on Tuesday for the first (and possibly last) time before the election. In the debate, the vice president provoked the Republican candidate with criticism of his economic policies, his refusal to acknowledge his 2020 election loss and even his performance at his rallies.
Trump, who has ventured into uncharted territory by discussing allegations of eating pets and executing babies, fired back by attacking Democrats’ record on immigration and inflation.
An account X called The Maverick Approach, which claims to be an “alternative news” source, is heavily promoting the earpiece conspiracy theory.
“There is one major problem with this debate,” the account tweeted. “I told myself that he was told what to say during the debate and my hunch was right. Nova are the world’s first and only wireless earbuds.”

The account shared a photo of Harris during last night’s pageant, in which her earrings are clearly visible. It also shared a link to the NOVA H1 Audio earrings, which are purportedly the “first clip-on headphones on the planet.”
A Kickstarter page promoting the technology says the earrings sit on the earlobes and can “project sound from inside the bead directly into the ear canal.”
“Two small, high-end microphones are built into each earring, providing the user with crystal-clear phone calls and wind noise cancellation,” the announcement states.
‘These earrings are fully packed with the latest technology embedded in real pearls to give you music, phone calls and digital assistants all day long.’
The NOVA H1 earrings, which retail for about $625, are available in gold but otherwise bear no resemblance to the earrings Harris wore Tuesday night.
The NOVA earrings appear to be almost crescent-shaped, while the pair Harris wore features a double loop of gold beneath the gemstone.
Harris’ supporters, responding to her critics online, have claimed that her earrings are nearly identical to a pair of Tiffany earrings that sold for more than $2,000. The earrings are no longer available on the retailer’s website.

The vice president came under fire last week after she was seen wearing a pair of wired headphones as she made her way through a group of reporters attempting to question her.
Harris, who took more than a month to give an interview to a major media outlet after announcing her presidential bid, was filmed boarding her flight as she left Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to campaign in the Midwest.
In the clip, reporters can be heard trying to get Harris’ attention, but the vice president simply waved dismissively while adjusting her headphones as if she were taking a call.
