Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated the 20th anniversary of the show Queer Eye on Thursday as part of her ongoing Pride Month celebration.
The vice president welcomed show co-founders and producers David Collins and Michael Williams to her ceremonial office in the White House Executive Office Building, as well as cast members Carson Kressley, Jai Rodriguez, Karamo Brown and Jonathan Van Ness.
The group was notably missing breakout star Bobby Berk, who announced in January that he was leaving the show after an alleged dispute with one of his co-stars.
Harris welcomed the group of stars and cast members despite the controversy that rocked the long-running reality show after star Van Ness was labeled a “freak” in a shocking Rolling Stone exposé.
Van Ness, who identifies as non-binary, was accused by sources of being “emotionally abusive,” having “anger issues,” and being a “nightmare.”

Harris was expected to have a conversation with the creators and cast to talk about the show’s impact on its 20th anniversary, but she opened the event with comments about the Supreme Court ruling on the abortion pill.
“This is not cause for celebration,” he said, “because the reality is that certain things are not going to change yet.” We are faced with the fact that two-thirds of women of reproductive age in the United States live in a state where Trump prohibits abortion. “This sentence is not going to change that.”
Since President Joe Biden spent most of June in Europe, the vice president took the lead in celebrating Pride Month by opening access to LGBT journalists, social media influencers and celebrities.

Also in attendance were LGBT celebrities Raven Symone, Billy Porter and Dyllon Burnside. Drag performer and winner of the show. Ru Paul’s drag career Nymphia Wind was the master of ceremonies for the event.
Harris urged her guests to celebrate their cultural victories and remember the 49 victims of the 2016 Pulse gay nightclub shooting eight years ago.
‘It is important that every day we remember the struggle but we also do not allow anything or anyone to deprive us of our joy and that is why we remember the struggle and in the struggle we always remember that the sacrifices and pain are almost unbearable if it were not for him. well and in memory of those who have sacrificed so much,” he said.

Last week, Harris met a crowd of cheering LGBT figures at the Los Angeles airport and gave an exclusive interview to the Washington Leaf about the upcoming elections.
He warned that former President Donald Trump posed a threat to the gay community, even as they celebrated its progress.
‘All that progress is at stake this November. “Donald Trump and his MAGA allies attack the rights and freedoms of Americans and have all but vowed to go after the right to love who you love, ban books and restrict surrogacy,” he said.
