Last week, the vice president came under fire online for using a “fake accent” to preach to a predominantly black audience.
While speaking at a church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, social media users highlighted a point where they said Harris began speaking like a Southern Baptist preacher and quoted from the Bible’s book of Psalms.

Pro-Trump social media accounts not only say the accent is made up, but they also accuse Harris of being a “fake” person.

Harris has for months faced a barrage of hate from pro-Trump users who claim her accent code-switching is offensive to Black voters and a slap in the face to Americans.
Last week, Harris faced accusations of employing an accent to appeal to the crowd she speaks to; this time, the voice of a “preacher” in a church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In September, Harris faced accusations of using an urban accent to engage with working-class voters in Detroit, Michigan.
“You may not be a union member, but you better thank a union member for the five-day work week,” Harris said in a tone of voice atypical of the one he uses in his usual speeches.
She continued: ‘You better thank a union member for the sick leave. You better thank a union member for the paid leave. You better thank a union member for the vacation.
At another point, an audience member shouted something about Harris’ future beyond the 2024 election.
The vice president, still employing this new accent, responded with a big smile and laugh before leaning over the podium and saying, “Let’s go through the next 64 days.”
