Kalvin Phillips was seen giving the middle finger at West Ham fans after they shouted abuse at him.

The midfielder, on loan at West Ham from Manchester City, was on the bus returning from Newcastle when the incident occurred.

Fans were heard asking Phillips for a photo, but he climbed onto the trainer, before one supporter shouted that he is “useless”.

Phillips, clearly angered by the criticism, then raised his middle finger and fans subsequently said “get out.”

The 28-year-old came on as a 69th-minute substitute in West Ham’s 4-3 defeat to Newcastle.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Phillips, who conceded a penalty after making contact with Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

Since joining West Ham on loan in January, Phillips has made eight appearances, mainly as a substitute.

Phillips had made just four Premier League appearances for Manchester City in the first half of the season, none of which he started. He has had a miserable time at City since he signed for £42m in 2022.

Additionally, Phillips, previously a key player for Gareth Southgate, was left out of England’s squad for the matches against Brazil and Belgium.
