MANILA, Philippines—Filipino fans were disappointed after Kai Sotto was benched early in the Orlando Magic’s NBA Summer League campaign on Sunday (Manila time) in Las Vegas.
Sotto’s Summer League debut will have to wait after he recorded a DNP (did not play, coach’s decision) in the Magic’s 89-78 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
James Wiseman and Jalen Durent formed a formidable front for the Pistons.
Wiseman, the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, led Detroit with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Duren, the 13th overall pick in last year’s draft, had a team-high 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Jaden Ivey, who was taken fifth in the same class, added 14 points and five steals.
