Despite the sporting setbacks, Bayern Munich’s CEO Oliver Kahn is “still convinced of this squad” and does not want to talk about failed squad planning when it comes to center forwards.
“I don’t think we missed that,” said Kahn on the sidelines of the quarter-final second leg in the Champions League against Manchester City on “DAZN”.
After the departure of Robert Lewandowski, the club naturally looked around. “Only getting a top striker, there are simpler ones. Especially in which price segment it starts with top strikers in Europe.”
Kahn: Bavaria’s image hasn’t been tarnished
At the same time, Kahn emphasized that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had done an excellent job in the center forward position. “He scored important goals in an important phase. (…) He’s a big surprise,” said the former world-class goalkeeper.
He doesn’t see FC Bayern’s image damaged in recent weeks. “It’s like this: If you can’t win three or four titles, there’s immediate unrest. We know that, we have to deal with it,” said Kahn.
