A fashion stylist peeked into one of the new K-hub stores after Kmart turned struggling Doelland outlets into a shake-up for retailers.

Dani, who blogs under Luxe and Lemonade, shared one TikTok video about her shopping experience after visiting the smaller store in Bowral, about 90 minutes southwest of Sydney.

She filmed a brief tour of the store, which opened earlier this year, showing the popular aisles such as household items and decorations, clothing and winter accessories.

What are K hub stores?

The ‘one-stop-shop’ K hub stores have been rebranded as Target Country stores stocking Kmart’s most popular homewares, apparel and kids lines.

Customers can also pick up anything from the stores purchased online from Target or anything purchased online from the Catch Group.

The collections are designed for a ‘smaller neighborhood store, with more convenience in mind’ and are described as ‘the best of Kmart, just in a smaller package’.

“K hub is a more curated selection of the best-selling Kmart products,” said Dani.

‘I was very impressed with the selection they had. There were many pieces from the fall / winter collection. The household items weren’t too badly stocked either. ‘

Her video has since been viewed more than 59,000 times, with many describing the new K-hub stores as ‘boujee’, ‘well stocked’ and offering shoppers ‘a nice, quiet environment’.

“I went to a K-hub store near my house and bought a beautiful hanging plant for just $ 9. I can’t even find one in a normal Kmart. K-hubs are really good, ‘someone wrote.

K hub stores look a bit different from a standard Kmart store and offer a ‘local feel’, trendy products at low daily prices and ‘bright and colorful’ aisles.

“We are giving our hub stores a ‘light’ makeover for now, so we don’t bother communities with long store closings,” the retailer said on his website.

“Our priority is to get these stores up and running so that our customers have easy access to the everyday items they need, when they need it most. But keep an eye out; we have big plans to change the look and feel of these stores over time. ‘

The new K Hub store comes just months after owner Westfarmers announced plans to close 75 Target stores and convert 92 others into Kmarts.

The company said the restructuring would reduce Target’s ‘unsustainable’ cost base and allow it to focus on the more profitable Kmart.

A further 25 regional Doelland stores have since been converted into small Kmarts, while up to 40 large stores have been turned into large Kmarts.
