Juventus are in talks with Sassuolo to sign Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli, but are struggling to close the deal after they turned down their fellow Serie A club’s £34m asking price.
Locatelli emerged as a top midfielder for the future after a sensational Euro 2020 campaign as Italy won the tournament and scored two goals in his side’s 3-0 win over Switzerland in the group stage.
Juventus have long been keen to sign the 23-year-old and have increased their interest in him post-tournament as they look to bolster their roster after a disappointing last season, which saw their nine-year stranglehold on Serie A given title. and made their way to the top four.

But according to a report from Sky Sport Italia, it will take some time for the move to go through as Juventus are unwilling to pay Sassuolo’s asking price.
The report says Juve met Sassuolo three times about Locatelli but were unable to come to a deal.
Sassuolo is demanding €40m (£34m) but Juve, struggling with the financial fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, would prefer Locatelli to take a two-year loan with an option to buy.

Juve will take a few days to reflect and will meet with Sassuolo again in the coming days to continue negotiations, the report said.
Arsenal are said to have made an offer for Locatelli, while it was claimed in Italy this week that Liverpool are ready to take part in the race.
Juventus are seen as the midfielder’s preference, but Arsenal or Liverpool can now skip them if they can live up to Sassuolo’s rating.
The Serie A club want a solution to Locatelli’s future in the coming weeks so they can try to reinvest the money in a replacement before the transfer window closes.
