I don’t fight everyone … only Gonzalo Higuain! Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri says striker is the only player he clashes with because Argentinian ‘has to be spoiled one day and hit a wall the next’
- Maurizio Sarri has managed striker Gonzalo Higuain in his last three clubs
- Juventus manager says Higuain needs to be addressed in a unique way
- He believes the Argentinian is the only one of his players he fights with
Maurizio Sarri has revealed that the only player he “fights” with is Gonzalo Higuain, claiming that the striker “should be pampered one day and hit the next.”
Juventus’ manager is in charge of Higuain at three different clubs, starting with Napoli – before taking him on loan to Chelsea and working with him again in Turin.
The Argentinian striker had his best goal season under Sarri, hitting 36 goals in 35 Serie A matches in the 2015-16 campaign.

Sarri, who has led Higuain at three clubs, said he needs to be pampered and beaten
Now Sarri has made it clear that he has a unique dynamic with the 32-year-old.
“I always read that I fight with everyone, when really the only person I fight with is Higuain,” said Sarri.
“I don’t know why that is, but it always has been. Maybe it’s because he needs a rather aggressive counterpoint to bring out the best in him.
“He’s okay mentally, but physically I don’t know how much he can bear because he’s been on and off lately.
Higuain celebrates after scoring for Juventus in their game against Lecce in Serie A.
“He has to be spoiled one day and hit a wall the next! If he feels down, he needs care.
“When he’s at a peak, he has to be taken down because he can get too carried away.”
Juventus, Sarri and Higuain hope to win Serie A this season – they are seven points ahead of the top with eight games to go.
