Justin Timberlake’s lawyer said at a court hearing Friday that the star was not intoxicated on the night of his drunken driving arrest in the Hamptons in June.
Timberlake, 43, was arrested on June 18 around 12:30 p.m. when a Sag Harbor Village Police Department officer pulled him over in the New York Hamptons village after he allegedly ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane while driving a 2025 BMW X7, according to a court document.
The star told the officer he had a martini and was following friends home, according to documents; he was later charged with misdemeanor drunken driving.
His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., claimed during the hearing that Timberlake “was not intoxicated” when he was arrested, according to US Weekly
Timberlake was not present in court or appearing virtually, as he is on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour in Poland. He is expected to appear virtually on Friday, August 2, as he will be charged with driving under the influence.

Burke reportedly made a comment in the courtroom that prosecutors allegedly failed to “obtain a superior officer’s signature on the initial charging documents and therefore the case should be dismissed,” according to Page six.
He told the outlet: ‘The police made a number of very significant mistakes in this case.
‘Today in court, you heard the district attorney try to correct one of those mistakes. But that’s just one and there are many others. Sometimes police make mistakes and this is just one of those cases.’

Timberlake’s alleged intoxicated condition was detailed in court documents, which said: “His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanated from his breath, he was unable to divide his attention, had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.
‘This is going to ruin the tour,’ the star is reported to have muttered.
The New York officer, who was too young to recognize Timberlake, asked, “What tour?” and was told, “The world tour.”
After being arrested and taken to a police station in nearby East Hampton, he refused to take a breathalyzer test, according to court documents, which listed his occupation as “professional” and said he was “self-employed.”

The 10-time Grammy winner was released without bail later in the morning after being arraigned in Sag Harbor.

Jessica Biel and Justin have been married since 2012 and have children together: Silas, nine, and Phineas, three.
Justin has continued his Forget Tomorrow world tour despite the arrest and Jessica has continued filming The Better Sister, which she also executive produces under her Iron Ocean Films banner.
Jessica also executive produced Hulu’s 2022 biographical crime drama series Candy, in which she played accused axe murderer Candy Montgomery and Justin had a recurring role on Candy as Deputy Steve Deffibaugh.
