Justin Long and Kate Bosworth are engaged and share private details about their love story.
During a new episode are Life is short podcast released on Tuesday, Long was joined by Bosworth where the couple confirmed they got engaged earlier this year following the Barbarian star asked the question. The couple generated media speculation when she debuted a ring at the Vanity purse Oscar party last month, which the stars confirmed on the podcast was indeed an engagement ring.
“We’re starting a new chapter,” Bosworth, 40, said of the episode. Long, 44, said at the time: “People have been asking for it because Catherine was wearing a ring that I gave her when I asked her — well, not when I asked her, but shortly after I asked her — to marry me.”
Long explained that prior to his actual proposal, he had a more elaborate plan for the special moment he envisioned on her birthday in January. However, the pair alluded to something difficult that happened around that time in their lives that changed the plan; the pair declined to specify details, but said they would likely share more information later.
“We had just gone through this really hard one and we had talked to a therapist,” Bosworth recalled. She then described a moment that occurred shortly after the session when the couple lay in bed together and drew on the therapist’s strategies: “I remember smiling at you and saying, ‘What do you need?’ And he really looked at me, and he said, “To spend my life with you.” And I smiled and I said, ‘Well, yes, you have — oh my God, you have.’ And he said, ‘No, I mean, me Real want to spend my life with you.’”
Long confirmed that this was ultimately the perfect way for this to happen, despite his earlier plan not coming to fruition. “It came out in a very organic way,” he said. “Asking for it was easy. It just poured out.”
The Live free or die hard actor announced on Instagram on Tuesday after a link to the podcast and a carousel of photos of Bosworth, including photos with the ring. “I am eternally grateful to have found a partner who makes each day SO full, whose mere presence IS a reminder of life’s beauty and brevity, and who makes me smile from the moment we wake up to the one who I reluctantly fall asleep,” Long caption. “I cherish the days we’ve had and the days to come.”
So is Bosworth shared the podcast link to her own Instagram account and called Long her “future husband” in the caption. The Blue crush actress added, “When life is short, find the one who brings you endless peace and radical wonder. @justinlong I’m so thankful it’s you.”
Long and Bosworth filmed the horror movie House of Darkness together in 2021, and in April 2022, they were photographed kissing in Hawaii. Bosworth announced her divorce from ex-husband Michael Polish in August 2021.
