Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson did not participate in the team’s OTAs amid contract extension talks.

OTAs, or organized team activities, are voluntary training and team meetings that take place over a ten-day period during the preseason.

But according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, sources within the Vikings organization say the wide receiver did not show up at the team facility today.

Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said at last month’s NFL Draft that the team and Jefferson were moving forward on a deal, but the two sides paused any talks during the draft.

Adofo-Mensah added that the two sides came “incredibly close” to reaching an agreement last season before pausing negotiations at the start of the 2023 regular season.

While sitting out may seem like a sign, it’s important to note that Jefferson also missed all of the Vikings’ voluntary workouts last season before he finally reported to mandatory minicamp.

Last season, Jefferson led the NFL in receiving yards before suffering a season-altering hamstring injury in Week 5.

He would return in Week 15, finishing the season with 68 receptions for 1,074 total yards.

Jefferson won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award for the 2022 season when he led the league in receptions and receiving yards.

This year, the wide receiver will play out his fifth-year option on his rookie contract and earn $19.743 million guaranteed.
