Just Stop Oil activists have thrown orange paint over the offices of an energy company in Canary Wharf in protest of an oil pipeline running through Africa.
More than a dozen protesters sat cross-legged outside Total Energies headquarters at 8 a.m. Tuesday, which was covered in the group’s signature orange paint.
Activists held up a sign reading “Stop EACOP, stop genocide”, referring to an oil pipeline in East Africa that carries fuel produced from Uganda’s Lake Albert oil fields to the port of Tanga in Tanzania, before being sold to the world markets.
Just Stop Oil tweeted: “Four Just Stop Oil supporters have sprayed black and orange paint over Total’s offices in protest at ongoing human rights abuses at the construction of @EACOP_.”
The group added that the action on Tuesday was carried out in solidarity with Ugandan student activists who opposed the project.
