Nicki Minaj has come under fresh criticism after fans branded her recent Dublin concert “embarrassing” after she arrived 90 minutes late to the show and performed for less than an hour.
Some who attended the 41-year-old rapper’s performance at Malahide Castle are now demanding refunds, and it’s not the first time the Trinidad and Tobago-born star has disappointed his fans.
Just one day after the ill-fated Dublin gig, the rapper pulled out of her appearance at the Bucharest festival on Sunday citing “security concerns” over protests in the area.
In May, when she cancelled her concert at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena after being detained at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on suspicion of drug offences.
He is scheduled to perform at the Wireless festival in London on Friday and fans are hoping his appearance goes off without a hitch.
Nicki Minaj (pictured during her performance at Malahide Castle) was criticised for starting the show late and finishing early.
In May, the musician was forced to postpone a concert in Manchester after being arrested in Amsterdam (fans are pictured leaving the venue after it was announced that the concert would not take place that night).
Nicki, a mother of one who was raised in Queens, New York, was scheduled to take the stage in Dublin at 8 p.m. on Saturday night.
But the musician reportedly did not show up until around 10pm, angering many of the 20,000 fans who had been left waiting in the rain at the open-air venue.
Additionally, the set was reported to last less than 60 minutes, which included about 10 to 15 minutes that the artist spent on multiple costume changes.
There has been no explanation yet as to why the event, which marked the rapper’s first performance in Dublin since 2015, started late and ended early.
Angry fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to demand a refund for their tickets, which started at €90.
One furious fan wrote: ‘The million dollar question is whether you’ll have enough respect from your fanbase to show up on time.
‘Malahide Castle was an absolute disgrace. 1.5 hours late for a 50 minute show.’
Another added: “I have definitely lost all respect for Nicki Minaj after what happened last night at Malahide Castle.”
And a third revealed that some fans left before Nicki took to the stage as they had lost faith in the rapper coming out.
“Crowd leaves Malahide Castle because Nicki Minaj can’t be bothered to come on stage. Shame on you,” they wrote.
Another, who tagged Ticketmaster, wrote: “Wondering if there will be a refund for Nicki Minaj’s Malahide gig last night as she turned up two hours late and played for 30 minutes. I paid over €300 for tickets, just not acceptable.”
The event was not the only time Nicki Minaj left her fans disappointed.
Just one day later, the rapper pulled out of her appearance at a festival in Romania on Sunday citing “security concerns.”
Speaking to X, the rapper said she had been warned about “protests in the area” near the Saga Festival in Bucharest and that she had to make “wise decisions” as a mother.
His post on X read: ‘Out of concern for the well-being of our team and myself, I have been advised by my security team not to travel to the Romania festival tonight due to safety concerns regarding protests in the area.
I hope to see you all another time.
While most respondents were supportive, the announcement was met with negativity by other fans who took to X to share their feelings of anger and disappointment.
Among them was one who wrote: “I’m a girl from Romania who was supposed to go to Saga Festival. I just want to make it clear that the main reason people come to this festival is to see you perform live. The fact that you announced you weren’t coming just ONE hour before your performance is DISGUSTING!”
Another wrote: ‘They should fire their security team then, there are no protests that could have caused security issues.’
And a third said: “You are misinformed. All you want is to gain influence. Romania is safe.”
Disgruntled fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain that the singer interrupted their concert.
The news follows the rapper’s disappointing decision towards her Manchester fans in May, when she cancelled her show at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena after being detained at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on suspicion of drug offences.
Despite a livestream of his arrest being shared online, more than 23,000 ticket holders were able to enter the venue and take their seats, where they waited before being told the concert would be postponed.
A video taken inside the stadium showed fans booing and shouting after the announcement, while organisers said they were “deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused”.
Minaj’s supporters, who call themselves Barbz, have criticised bosses at the “cursed” music venue for allowing them to enter and spend money even though the show did not go ahead.

One fan told MailOnline she was “absolutely heartbroken” by the cancellation of the concert. “It’s not like the tickets were cheap,” Alesha said. “We spent a fortune to be there tonight, not counting the travel and the clothes we bought for it.”
Photos from the event show disappointed fans of the star leaving the venue after learning the concert would not go ahead.
Once again, people shared their frustrations on X, with one writing, “This is the sixth show postponed. She’s breaking history for having the most shows postponed for a female artist.”
The rapper later addressed X to reveal that the show would be taking place the following month.
According to Nicki, she spent around six hours in custody at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport before being able to fly to the UK.
She livestreamed her arrest in the Netherlands at around 4pm after police detained her on suspicion of exporting soft drugs as she prepared to fly to Britain after “weed” was allegedly found in her luggage.
The singer denied that the items were hers and claimed they were the property of her security team.
Her recent concert controversies aren’t the only time Nicki has left her fans disappointed.
In 2018, she was scheduled to embark on her NickiHndrxx tour with rapper Future, starting in Baltimore, Maryland, before heading to Europe.
Fans were once again very angry when the star revealed that she would be cancelling her concert in Romania.
However, she revealed that she would be cancelling the North American leg of the tour, revealing that she had “decided to re-evaluate elements of the production” and wanted to spend more time in rehearsals.
Regarding X, he wrote: ‘Future and I will be starting the European leg of our tour first, so those dates will remain exactly the same and the US leg of the tour will now begin in May.
“With Future’s schedule, I may have to book another co-headliner or I may just do it like I did with The Pinkprint Tour and not co-headline. I’ll probably only have three or four opening acts.”
She added: “This is all happening because I delayed my album for two months and finished writing and recording literally hours before it came out. Now, I just don’t have the time to rehearse and tour and give you guys the level of show I need to give. I truly apologize, but it will be worth it.”
In the end he only went ahead with the European leg of the tour.
