Jurgen Klopp is ready to do business in the January transfer window if the right player becomes available to bolster his ranks at Liverpool.

Liverpool’s appeal has never been higher under Klopp’s reign – the Champions League holders are currently eight points clear of second-placed Leicester and 11 ahead of defending champions Manchester City in the Premier League.

And Klopp fuelled speculation of January additions by suggesting it could be easier to do business at the start of the year.

‘For us it is always the same. We don’t speak about it but we are pretty much always ready to do something if it will help us,’ Klopp said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s match with Everton on Wednesday.

‘If not, then not. We will see. Is the January window more difficult than the summer window? I think the summer window is more difficult because of the different moments when it closes in Europe.

‘That makes it really difficult. We will see how that will be in the future. The summer window only hurts the English clubs, it doesn’t help them. We can only buy until a specific moment, other clubs can buy into the season.’

Sportsmail reported in November that Liverpool had joined the list of clubs pursuing Borussia Dortmund and England international Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is unhappy at being singled out on numerous occasions by his Dortmund bosses and was dropped for their Champions League tie against Barcelona last week for being late to a team meeting.

The 19-year-old, valued at around £100million, then came off the bench and scored at the Nou Camp in a 3-1 defeat.

Klopp, meanwhile, has no new injury concerns ahead of Wednesday’s encounter against Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield.

Goalkeeper Alisson is suspended after being sent off during Saturday’s 2-1 win against Brighton, so No 2 Adrian is ready to fill in.
